How did I know this thread was going to deteriorate into this.

I did as well. Maybe I can stop compulsively checking that site now. -

Yes, GWU sent out some acceptances the past two weeks. The unofficial e-mails were primarily sent out on the 4th and 5th. Some individuals have received their official letters in the mail. In addition, the status of some individuals has changed on the website and a brief acceptance letter was posted via the site. -

Ugh. Snail Mail? That means that I will probably receive it one month from now. I feel like living in a very small Mississippi town is almost as if I am living in foreign country. Mail takes so long to come! -

Nice call. It does say "around the 20th" though. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be today. Hopefully it wont stretch towards next week. It's great that it comes with funding info at the same time too! -
I've found myself wasting entirely too much time here. I've been.... 1. Reading all the forums back to 2006. There is no reason why I do this. I found the history of the forum to be kind of interesting. I guess there used to be some drama back in the day when it all got started. It was also fun to see how far the site has developed and grown in popularity. 2. Browsing program boards that have absolutely nothing to do with my program and are related in no shape or form.

As others have said, that is really not that egregious of a mistake at all. I have one for you all though.....I mentioned how the University of Chicago would be a great fit for my career aspirations in my SOP to the University of Texas.

Does anyone else think it would be useful to have a discussion topic on some of the most popular pp/pa/ir schools discussing the pros/cons? (regardless of funding, etc) Clearly I got this idea from the Maxwell School thread but I think it would be great if this information was easily found in its own thread and not tucked away in others. Thoughts? -

I did as well. I knew would be hearing soon, but why do you think it will be by tomorrow? -
I've also been admitted to the Maxwell School and here's a few of my thoughts on the pro's and con's of attending: Pros: *Its a one year program. You can save on tuition money. *According to US News, it does have a high ranking (Although those rankings in themselves are dubious.) Cons *Because it is a one year program, you are not able to take an internship over the summer between the standard two years. The website indicates that this does not affect job placement, but I would still be dubious. *The city of Syracuse is cold as hell. It gets significant lake effect snow. I've also heard that the city itself does not offer much. I'm sure there's many more advantages and disadvantages to attending the Maxwell School. These are just a few I could quickly rattle off.

Still waiting on both the status change and the official letter. I suppose it doesn't really matter that much, but I'd just like to have something remotely official to ease my mind. -
I definitely did this myself. I felt so idiotic. I caught it the day after I mailed a hard copy. I e-mailed the admissions coordinator and said that after rereading my SOP, I decided to make a few revisions. I then e-mailed the school a revised version and told them to disregard the previous. I believe there's little chance that I get into the school. I at least hope they had a few good laughs at my expense when they realize what I did.

And..... Ben told Widmore he was going to kill his daughter after they shot his.

Thoughts on Ben killing Penny?

I'd have to go with Desmond as mine. Although, I truly miss Mr. Eko. Who are all of your favorites of present and past characters?

tsk tsk for the chit chat on the results page

Sadness. At least you warned me. I was getting my hopes up. Looks like I'm going to go back to the castle game on Sheppard Software for the rest of the day. -

I am also waiting for the status change on the website and the official letter from GW. It's killing me. The postal service in Mississippi must be backwards. I really think somedays the postmaster just decides not to sort and deliver any new mail. -
I would imagine the Duke results are from individuals who applied to the early deadline. It does not appear that Duke has begun announcing notifications for individuals who applied before the final deadline. I do imagine that notifications will be sent shortly.
-
The CMU acceptance was for the early deadline. I imagine the Duke acceptance was as well. I believe both schools have yet to announce acceptances/rejections for the final deadline. In addition, Syracuse has begun notifying individuals. However, they have rolling admissions.
-
My apologies for the original post. I think your GRE scores make you particularly competetive. In addition, work experience is always useful. It sounds like the people you have writing your LORs are also impressive, but I'm a firm believer its not who you have writing your letters but what they say about you. Others may disagree, but I think a personal statement weighs heavily in the admissions process. Be sure to spend a lot of time creating one that you are happy with. And, as others have said before me, admissions to public policy schools can be rather hard to predict. You just need to put yourself to be in a position to be as competitive as possible and it appears you have done so.

that #5 killed my evening. I am addicted to the tank game. Its bad.

*waiting for Linden's magic eight ball link*

if u will be rejected, do they make u wait or reject u asap?
dagger replied to twip25's topic in Waiting it Out
While there is only one result on the results page from previous years, it seems to be in the standard time frame of notices from most for public policy. You may very well have to wait until Mid March for a decision. -

There was no date listed in the GW e-mail but I believe it was more of an unofficial notice of an admission. I imagine that there will be date when the hard copy is sent through the mail. I have not received the hard copy yet. Has anyone else?
