  1. It's really the cold that scares me, haha. It was in the 20's this morning in DC and VERY windy and I was struggling
  2. So is anyone seriously considering going to Minny? Its location isn't ideal for me, but the program sounds very solid and they have a big International Ed program at U of MN, and I eventually want to work in international ed. Anyway, I registered for the March 30 visit day
  3. My best friend will be finishing this program this year. She loves it!
  4. I got an email on the 11th as well. It said financial aid info would come by mid-march.
  5. For the RPCVs - make sure you look in to Fellows/USA
  6. One Wednesday for me. At about 515 eastern standard time
  7. Haha, yea as soon as an application was submitted I didn't look at any of those documents again. I did, however, triple and quadruple check the documents that I uploaded. Good thing I did, too, because for one of my apps I had used the wrong name for my department (doh!) and I noticed when I was reviewing my app before submitting (thank goodness!!)
  8. I work with a graduate fellowship program and I feel like I can finally relate to the prospective fellows on a certain level when I'm talking to them. I used to think they were always asking me dumb questions or questions that I thought were easily answered on the website or by another office, then I realized that I was asking those same dumb/obvious questions in my own search, haha.

    Minneapolis, MN

It looks like Minnesota is a definitely possibility for me now (still pending notifications from my other two schools). I think my only concern with Minny is the COLD!! Anyway, I'm interested in cost of living info. I would ideally like to live within walking distance of campus, but I will have a car and am quite used to public transportation having lived and worked in DC for the past few years. I'm having a hard time figuring out what's a good deal for 1 bedrooms and studios since I've only ever really apt shopped in DC where it's impossible to find a decent studio for under $1000.
  10. Thanks! I saw on the results page there's another Minnesota MPP'er floating around somehere on the boards...
  11. Gopher is correct - University of Minnesota MPP.
  12. Got my first acceptance e-mail this afternoon Now to wait for (hopefully!) two more!
  13. LOL, yea it is. But it gave me a good laugh so thanks
  14. Yea I started getting anxious on Monday :!:
  15. There's only one entry (from last year) in the results page for one of my programs. That entry says the person was accepted Feb 11 aka TODAY. GRRRRRRR I'm tired of waiting!!!!
  16. I chose gov't and other. Since graduation I spent 1 year working for a large professional association, and for the last 1.5 years I've worked for the federal government.
  17. I'm going to my parents' house this weekend. Should keep me from worrying about acceptances for at least two days 8)
  18. According to this site, one of my schools started notifying people Feb 11 last year. I cannot stand waiting.
  19. I only applied to three. I will ony regret this number if I'm not accepted to any of those three. Really though, they're all schools I'd like to go to and I wouldn't have wanted to bother my recommenders or myself, frankly, with many more forms and statements. I also have a solid full time job, so I certainly won't be too far in the dumps if I'm not accepted anywhere.
  20. I didn't apply to GW, but this makes me really anxiuos since they seem to be the first admits for MPA/MPP programs so far!
  21. Do PhD programs generally start notifying earlier than Master's level programs? It seems that's the case according to these boards...
  22. Rankings are pretty outdated in public policy and public admin. I did look at them, but I put just as much if not more value on where faculty earned their degrees.
  23. Scream, sit in disbelief for a while, have someone read and re-read my letter/e-mail of acceptance so I know I'm not imagining things, call my parents, tell my friends, think about how awesome my drive across country is going to be, figure out how soon I can quit my job without going in to poverty before the school year starts, etc, etc, etc... That's pretty much what I know would happen. I guess my fantasy would consist of getting a call from my top school, having them tell me I'm accepted on a full ride, I quit my job and buy a plane ticket to New Zealand and travel around the country until August at which time I come back to the US, pack up my stuff and spend a month driving across country to school
  24. I knew I wanted to go to grad school since undergrad. I considered applying straight out of undergrad but decided against it for some reason. I moved to DC for work right after graduation, and anybody who's worked in DC knows that the MA is the new BA, especially in my field. So once I got to the point where jobs I was interested in required an MA I knew it was about time to go back. Plus, I work with a graduate fellowship program so I'm surrounded with info on schools, grad students, and potential grad students. My interest was definitely piqued over the last 1.5 years in my current job, and since I can't really advance in my current position I figured this was as good a time as any
