  1. Can't explain other experiences. Yes, the odds are long for this one.
  2. I've added this info in both posts about AAUW. I contacted AAUW re status changes, here's their response: "the status will never change. Once the application form is closed (lodged), the online status does not change." So, that's that - no use checking madly at 4am for an update. Come on April 15!

    How old are you?

Ageless - well, on the cusp of 50. Never too old, never too young. Keep moving forward.
  5. The link given in my email from AAUW is individualized to my own application. Also, you indicated a closing date of 15 November - this is a different closing date to the Fellowship I applied for so the link may not even be relevant (my closing date was 1 December). You might need to ask AAUW for the link that relates to your application.
  6. Also noticed that the page had changed with less choices about checking status. There is another way in, check emails from AAUW which give you a link to check your status. Within the email it says "Click the link below to check the status of your recommendations, using the same user ID and password you use to log into the application: Review My Status (Link) " The link should start with https://actapps.act....event=go&realm= etc My status still says Recommended. I hope, as others have suggested, that applications are being reviewed - although 15 April is getting awfully close, so to still have Recommended as status probably doesn't look like good news. If you've applied, please post to let forum know if your status has changed.
  7. Yup, fingers, toes and everything else crossed to be able to afford to go - it'd be a shame to get this far and have to bow out. Congrats to you and maybe we'll cross paths in California if we make it
  8. Hi Cobalt, was offered the TA by the Chair of my department via email. I hope you snag some funding - good luck !
  9. Score board: CCA - Accepted, TA (1st year only), but found out today no funding ouch! SFAI - Accepted, waiting on funding outcome SAIC - Interviewed 3/5, waiting I feel a bit flat from my news today about CCA as this was the favoured choice. AAHHHHHH!!

    SAIC interviews

Just had my interview by Skype. I wished I could have been there in person to take part in all the activities and also see the facilities. Alas, bit difficult when you live in Australia to just pop over for the weekend! Hope it was fun and your interviews went well. Now, waiting some more....
  12. Firstly, congrats to all who have had good news - well done! Just this minute finished a Skype interview with SAIC - it felt right, so I hope the feeling was mutual their end I was a little nervous to start, having 2 academics and 1 current grad student interviewing me, but after a short time I settled. I was prepared for every question and that is the key! Anticipate the questions and have your answers practiced and automatic. There's no real set format to the interview questions, as the conversation tends to dictate what questions are asked. The key ones are: Why do you want to do an MFA, why with us, and why nowDo you have any questions (don't ask obvious questions - be more considered) Now's your chance to find out stuff - its about whether its a fit for you too! What can you bring to the programWho has influenced your workWhat artists are you currently looking atDiscuss your workSo far now, I have been accepted to CCA and SFAI, and obviously I'll have to wait to hear about SAIC. Now the hard part - $......
