  1. I am also looking for advice on UVa's MA program. I am trying to decide between UVa and the MA program at Georgetown. I got a full scholarship plus a TA position with a stipend at Georgetown, and UVa is, obviously, unfunded. However, I am fortunate in that my parents will pay for UVa if I decide to go there, so I will not have any debt either way. Does anyone have any advice or insight on this?
  2. Haha, don't feel too bad, my acceptance to the MA program came with the same "Dear ," email. Makes me wonder about the esteem in which they hold their MA students... Oh and Leto, I am so sorry that happened to you. I hope many good things are in your near future!
  3. Congrats potential future classmate! Are you planning to visit? For those who were asking about funding, I got more information on mine, but it looks like Baudelaire already pretty much explained how it works. My specific funding package is a full tuition remission explicitly guaranteed for both years (obviously contingent on satisfactory academic performance) in addition to a sort of TA position with a stipend for the first year. It looks like there are also a few other types of packages too: student funding Hope that helps!
  4. I got an acceptance with funding at 6pm on a Thursday night during the school's spring break. So it definitely happens, even with funded offers.
  5. Thanks, guys! And I'm just as confused as all of you are about the funding. I still haven't been able to get any details about my funding package. I plan on calling on Monday and asking about the size of my funding package and about second-year funding, and I'll let you know what I find out.
  6. Looks like they're notifying even earlier than the 14th! I got a phone call from Dr. Ortiz today offering me admission. I somehow missed the call (I've carried my phone everywhere with me for weeks, and I miss the ONE call from a grad school *sigh*), so he left a message. I got a funding package, but he didn't give any details about it in the message. I hope you guys get similar news soon!
  7. So I'm pretty sure the two are unrelated, but I got an acceptance letter from the school just a few hours after emailing for a status check. Now I look quite impatient! Oh well.
  8. What is the best way to ask a graduate school about my admissions status? I know that people have been accepted to this program already, but I haven't hear from them. Should I email or call? And what should I say? I know that waiting is probably better, but I'm going crazy...which is not good during midterms week!
  9. I saw a Wake Forest MA acceptance with funding on the results board. Can anyone claim it and/or give me any information?
  10. Do you have any insider info on when the MA decisions go out? Or even roughly when you received your acceptance? The only past data I can find on the results board is for the PhD decisions.
  11. There's a thread about this in the Lit/Rhet/Comp subforum that might interest you:
  12. I just got a (non-personalized) email from the grad director at Duke saying that she received requests for feedback and would be able to give feedback on some applications in May or June after the semester is over. I'm not sure what she means by some, but I guess I'll just ask again in May and see what happens.
  13. I think it is still too early. Based on results from past years, I'm guessing that Harvard usually sends out acceptances in one batch of emails. So either this is spam, or it was a special case where someone's POI had a personal interest in informing him/her of the acceptance. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of acceptances are yet to come. But, this it totally guessing on my part, so take it with a whole shaker of salt!
  14. Ahh, I saw that! I hope they're quick with their rejections...like ripping off a bandaid!
