  1. No problem, I'm the same, I would rather know now then wait around for another month to find out.
  2. Hi I applied, pretty sure it's a generic April 15th date for hearing back. I got my own postcard from them to acknowledge they received my application.
  3. My friend applied for that department and was admitted to the PhD about two weeks ago. Best of luck.
  4. I would guess similar numbers? I think how the process goes is that they rank you, so you're either in or out from the very first round - everyone other step is just confirming that ranking. So, if you want to think about it, the decision's already been made! It sucks still having to wait. I think from that website there's 22 for this year? I'm actually more worried about getting into grad school in the first place. I haven't heard from any schools, so I'm kind of use to waiting. Good luck.
  5. http://us.fulbrightonline.org/thinking_competition.html all the stats are here, by country, along with how many awards available for this year!
  6. Hi, I had to call a bunch of people - you can usually find who's responsible for your program if you go to the apply yourself website, click on the program, and then it should list the description, requirements, blah blah and a list of people who are responsible for the program. You can also call the general GSAS line and they were the ones who directed me to the correct person. They are not in the best of mood as they expect your call to be asking about your application status, but just plow ahead and tell them it's regarding the completeness of your application. I had to phone 3 people before getting to the right person, so don't give up. They were fairly nice and helpful once I got to them. Best of luck! sorry, I meant to say it wasn't helpful calling my program, they don't know anything since GSAS forwards everything to them, so GSAS are the people to talk to. Sorry, I keep editing. I did call the program, and they were the ones who told me that my application (which was almost complete was being considered), but on my application it said "At Department". So you may want to check with them first to see if your application is being considered. Hopefully it's okay.
  7. Please call them. They didn't get my GRE scores, nor updated my personal statement, writing sample, etc. One phone call, a few follow-up emails, and all is resolved.
  8. Hiya, I'm applying for grad school, but likely driving my husband mad. We've decided that if there's a rejection or acceptance for me, we're going for a burger and beer. So, regardless of what happens, we are doing something nice and eating a delicious burger. Likely I will get fat, but I've only applied for 5 schools. I am ready to start eating. Also, baking chocolate cake helps, but that might be because I'm a girl.
  9. Any past or present FULBRIGHT recipients from Canada? Or anyone applied to Fulbright Canada?
  10. I like to think I'm not (panicking that is!) - waiting for schools, jobs, scholarships - it's too much.
  11. I completely agree - but seriously, it's not like they're changing the world! hurry up and get to my application already, I have work to do and checking gradcafe is seriously hampering my productivity. I think Columbia is going to particularly slow.
  12. why is it that there is no word on public health PhD programs? Why are they so slow?
  13. I applied to Epi at UC Berkeley, although not sure it was the right program for me. Have not heard anything back, looks like it's taking longer for the Public Health people to roll out some decisions!
  14. http://www.petersons.com/ if you search your program, you may find that the average age is much older then you expected. For example, I'm applying for Public Health and 30 was the average age of applicants accepted. So good news. I don't think students should ever go directly into a PhD. Get some life experiences. This would explain why so many professors are socially awkward. Get a job selling hot dogs =) Talk to people.
