The email did imply there was still a chance if students turn down their offers, but yea, the tone of it seemed pretty grim. There was no mention of a wait list either.

All Hopkins Biostat invites have been sent out. According to the email I received, if you haven't received one, this "decreases chances dramatically."

I recently got accepted into a top notch MS program in Biostats that I'm starting this fall. At this point, I'm still unsure about whether I'm passionate enough to go for a PhD, especially since my research experience is practically non-existant. I figured that if I decided the PhD wasn't for me, I'd still have ample career opportunities, or would I? Well my colleague seemed to think that wasn't the case. Then again, he isn't really familiar with the typical career trajectory of a biostatician, which is what brings me here. If I decide to throw in the towel after obtaining my Masters, what would my options be? I understand that there is some sort of "glass ceiling" with a Masters, but how low is this "ceiling"? Should I just bite the bullet and and for a PhD no matter what or will I be able to have a flourishing and rewarding career with just my MS? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've read that it's best to wait until you're holding the acceptance letter in your hands, but given how far away I am (Asia), only God knows how long that's going to take. I went ahead and filled out the online reply form to formally accept their offer. I also will be receiving a generous financial aid package, which further confirms that my acceptance is legit. What would you do if you were in my position? Wait till I receive the letter in who knows how many weeks or just notify the other schools?

I'm in a similar situation except U of Washington is offering me full funding. It'd be an effing dream come true to go to Harvard although from a purely economic standpoint it makes more sense to go with the program that offers the funding. My heart says Harvard, but my brain says UW. Do I give up a life-long dream for money?

Yea, I was waitlisted at BU a couple of weeks ago. I emailed Yale to inquire and they said they're finalizing their decisions.

A decision will come soon enough, I'm sure. Btw, I was wondering if you could elaborate on UCLA's program in regard to switching into the phd program. You mentioned that it was easier there, so I was wondering how and why that was the case.

So when you click the link that I posted above, you'll see a "Decision Status" link under Step 3. Click that, input your information and it'll either say that your department hasn't come to a decision yet or you'll get a letter like I did. Once I found out about this, I couldn't help checking it at least five times a day!

It could happen. I wonder what the record is for most acceptances in one day. I hope this doesn't come off as gloating, but I can hardly contain myself! I hope y'all can forgive me.

I applied to the MA program as well and still no word *tear* I'd find out if you'd still be eligible for funding...
