  1. I'm wondering if any of you folks know whether it is possible to commute from Indianapolis to Purdue? I'm trying to figure out options so that I don't have to commute to Chicago every weekend to see my s.o. and thus far, moving to Indianapolis seems to be the best idea. I'd be happy for any advice / inputs that anyone can offer!
  2. I know I'm late posting, but I too am going to be starting at the Dept. of English this fall. I'm with you on the new place, new people, apartment-finding anxiety. I'm going to try and visit early June (that's the earliest I can get there) and I'm hoping that won't be too late. Urgh. Have you folks made any headway on finding apartments etc?
  3. I'm going to be around. I'll only be around from late Thursday-ish (ha! of course I mean I'll be there alter today). Ugh, sorry...I was out of here for a while. The semester is slowly engulfing me.
  4. Congrats on the acceptance, sausundbraus!
  5. Good luck, you guys! And going by stuff around here, you will be better than fine :-)
  6. Thanks lyoness and transcendental. Unfortunately, the mail was very brief. No information except to say that the official letter was in the post. I wonder if other Purdue lurkers may have heard something else? This is pretty much my only admit for the season and so, it still hasn't sunk in yet. I probably won't believe it till I actually have the letter in me hands.
  7. I'm one of those. I'm stunned and staring at my email for the moment - and I applied to the Theory & Cultural Studies program.
  8. Ooh! That's still something. Congratulations, cread. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I haven't heard a peep from them and I don't know what to make of it. Any statistics in the email that you got?
  9. And now, a wait-list notification. Congratulations and good luck to the person wait-listed! Are you lurking about here, perhaps? Also, anyone else hear anything yet?
  10. Congratulations! That is a handsome offer and I'm excited for you. (You research does sound fascinating.) And to you as well, truckbasket. Congratulations!
  11. Congratulations! Yeah, one of my recs also mentioned that the program (like most others, I suppose) was more about fit than about the stats. But it helps to know. This program was one of my top choices :-/ Oh well. You didn't by any chance hear how many admits went out etc, did you?
  12. I saw a couple of acceptances posted. Congratulations! Anyone around here claiming these?
  13. Cquin, I've applied to the Lit program as well. But since the campus-visit invites have been sent out (apparently), I'm guessing that the waitlist, if any will be from among that group. For what it's worth, I've decided to wait this out. Good luck, though!
  14. lmnf26, I'm with you. It is good to hear from others going to be at the PCA/ACA. And San Antonio sounds like fun. Schedule permitting, we should try to meet up!
  15. Ssundva, I'm going to try and attend your presentation. I've recently started to work on electronic literature and posthumanism, and this sounds fantastic.
  16. I'm working on Masculinities in China Mieville's "Perdido Street Station". Yeah, I'm waiting for the schedule as well. Perhaps something will work out. @the once and future grad - I don't suppose you've heard anything of your schedule? (edited: for spelling)
  17. I'm going to be at the PCA/ACA as well! I was also at the St. Louis conference and it was my first time presenting at a conference as well. What will you be working on? Maybe we should meet up in person there?
  18. In the same state and I'm telling myself to hang in there. We'll know soon enough, right?
