  1. Congratssss!!! Who was your POI at Stanford? Is it Dr. Deierlein or Dr. Billington?
  2. I called GA Tech yesterday. They told me that they had the record amount of applications this year and it's taking a lot of time to review. I am not expecting anything from there. And I am not expecting anything better from JHU or Northeastern either. Basically I have braced myself for another round of applications (may be in a year or two). So let's see. Good luck to all of you guys.
  3. Are you accepting the offer from john hopkins? Nothing is going right for me. I am rejected from Virginia Tech and waitlisted at John Hopkins. Still to get any kinda decision from UIUC or Georgia Tech. Looks like this is not going to be my year.

  7. Congrats. You've made it to your first choice program.
  8. Big congratulations to you for getting into all these top schools. If earthquake engineering is your interest, I would suggest Stanford, Berkeley or UIUC. MIT has virtually nothing going on in earthquake engineering, where Stanford has Dr. Deierlein who is a hot-shot in this field. Berkeley and UIUC also have some hot-shots in their rank too. Good luck.
  9. Your application season says "Fall 11". Did you apply for last year's program and get invitation for Fall 12 recruiting event?
  10. Your Physics background looks pretty impressive. I have no idea how much it will help you to get into CEE programs. But it got you to Lehigh where I couldn't get into with my substantial CEE background. Wish you all the best.
  11. Yes. This waiting sucks. I have my MS thesis to finish. Also need to finish my journal paper. But all I am doing these days is refreshing my email page every two minutes. By the way I got my northeastern decision last week. Hopefully you will get yours by next week. Wish you all the best.
  12. Thanks. Dr. Eatherton interviewed me over phone. Did you talk to anyone at VT recently?
  13. May be I am waitlisted or something. Fingers crossed. I talked to the department secretary. She told me that my application has been reviewed, but no action was taken.
  14. Seems like you guys received your decision from UCSD on Saturday. That's unusual. I still haven't got my decision from UCSD. Is there still time left for today? It's one of my dream schools. I am dying to get a (positive) decision from them. By the way CONGRATS to all those people who are posting their acceptance news.
  15. Did you receive any funding offer from GA Tech? Or only admission?
  16. No news from JHU yet. My POI at JHU told me I should hear back from them in early March. So hopefully we will get our decisions by next week.
  17. I received my admission letter today by email. The letter didn't say nothing concrete about funding. It said that the faculties are waiting on their funding proposals. If they receive any grants, I will be considered for assistantship and will be notified by email. But they invited me to their open house on March 23. I wasn't expecting decisions from Northeastern this early. Hopefully you will get your decision in a day or two. Which other schools did you apply?
  18. Has anyone of you attended the recruiting weekend at UIUC on Feb 25? Did they say anything about funding?
  19. I don't know the exact situation, but given the ranking and the location of the school it shouldn't be bad.
