Did anyone attend the preview day for FSU, or are planning on attending FSU for the fall? -
Not everything is super close in Surrey, so being near the skytrain is a good idea. Surrey tends to get flack for having more crime I think, mainly because those crimes are usually more dramatic (think, stabbings), but I'm sure it's nothing different from the things you would encounter downtown Vancouver that you just don't really hear about (robberies/break-ins etc). If you want to be near Surrey but in a more upscale area, you could always check out White Rock, but the further you go, the longer the commute of course to the various campuses.

Checking in with the couple people on this board that applied for Texas State. Did you hear anything at all yet? Yes/No/Waitlist. Nobody has posted to the results page, so I'm wondering if they haven't sent things out or if there just is nobody who frequents this site that applied there! -

I think it really depends on your personal situation. It is hard to come up with a number because any high number is super scary!!! I figure that with school + living, I will be in debt a minimum of $27,000. My dad has always said, in refence to vacations.....take what you think you will need and double it. So, if I double that as a precaution, I'd be taking on $54,000 minimum. As an international student, I think that is 'reasonable'. Do I like it, no. Will I deal with it, for sure. I am lucky enough to have no undergrad debts and I've also been working for 2 years out of school and have saved up some money. I've also heard that it is recommended that your monthly re-payments should not exceed 10% of your monthly gross salary. So that may be a good starting point to figuring it out. -

Did anyone apply for Iowa here and get rejected (and hear about it)? I haven't heard anything at all from them. I know waitlisted/accepts were given out quite some time ago, but I've heard nothing but crickets. I've been accepted elsewhere, so I don't exactly plan on attending this school, but it sure would be nice to hear something! -

You could also look into work abroad programs, or perhaps the university offers a type of work exchange program. I know they have this at the university I work at. It might be easier for him to find a job on campus under this special status, rather than the normal workforce outside the campus community. We have many 'foreigners' who come to work on contracts for different periods of time (weeks to months). They sort of act as temps who can become semi-permanent (contracts just keep getting renewed) -
Weepsie, I think you 've answered your own question. It sounds to me like you want to go to UBC, so take the plunge and do it! If you are not worried about the money aspect (that loan amount is very, very low), and you think the opportunities or the program will fit you more than the one in Ireland, go for it. It is scary to make a final decision, but the sooner you make it, the sooner you can begin your planning and moving on to the next stage. Congrats on your acceptances!

I am just wondering if anyone has decided to accept an offer at a school without hearing back from every place they applied to? I'm still waiting on a couple decisions, but I'm wondering if I should make a cut off date for myself to say, 'ok those other schools are taking too long, I'm just going to get on with it at school A' I know that for undergrads their acceptances are going to be happening in April (or was it May 1st?) and that will lead to more competition for housing and things like that. So just curious if some of you are deciding to go ahead without hearing all of your decisions. -

OKAY so, I called Texas State again to find out the details haha just incase people are still wondering (like I was) So, they sent out an email yesterday to those people who were accepted in the first round. If you didn't recieve an email, that means you are either waitlisted or rejected. They are hoping they will begin to notify waitlisted students by next Friday and they will keep doing this until the program is full in rounds. Also, if you are waitlisted or rejected, there is a chance you won't hear that you are waitlisted or rejected until after the April 15th deadline, so you will be basically sitting around waiting for a response, until that full class of 28 students is confirmed for their upcoming year. -

I don't think it's weird. I know I'd probably bring my mom if I was going to an open house event. No sig other and no friends who are really into sitting around learning about my program that they have no interest in, so mom all the way! I'd say bring whomever you feel most comfortable with, especially if you are looking for opinions about the program. You want someone who is truthful and has your best interest at heart. I vote moms! edit: sorry dad!! -

April 15th is the date that most programs give you to decide if you are going to accept or decline their offers. Usually, people on the waitlists will hear after this date passes, so the school knows how many openings will be available from those that intially declined. I wish they would just let us know over the phone! -

Did they say what date they mailed them out on? So does this mean if we are rejected we won't be getting a letter until after April 15th? -

I've tried calling twice today but get a lady's voicemail. The message doesn't say they are gone for spring break, just that she is away from her desk (mind you, maybe it just wasn't changed...). -

So has anyone responded to any of the schools they were accepted at to confirm themselves within the program? I'd be interested to know if some of you have already made your final decisions! -

Has anyone in these forums heard back from Arizona State University? I noticed on the results that people have heard via postal mail and was wondering if your status had also changed in your 'myASU' page as well. -

I'm not going to this school, but Seattle has a good public transportation system. If you are staying right within the city, I don't think it would be an issue. Maybe call and see what the furthest area they would send you on for clinic? Areas more north like 'shoreline' (NW of the university) would most likely require a car. I've been to Seattle many times, so I'm familiar with the city but' cant comment about anything regarding the actual school program! -

Tulipfern -- you are in texas right? Would you be able to give Texas State a call to ask when we should hear back from them? I'm international, so it will cost me a bit to call! -
