  1. Hey, I noticed a few people saying they have been logging on to Apply Yourself to check their application. I was wondering if this is the same thing as the application itself, or something different? When I log in to my application all I see is...my application so I don't know what it would look like if there was a change in my decision status? What further confuses me is that the university in question emailed me my 'ApplyYourself number' but it's different to the number I use to log on to my application. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm thinking of UCLA and Columbia in particular.
  2. Has anyone heard from Columbia yet? They told me mid-Feb that they were reviewing my application and would notify me when a decision had been made, but on their website it said they would notify everyone of their relevant decision by March. Hmm...
  3. I agree, I always fear that if I keep talking to a professor about my research indefinitely it is boardering on a sense that I feel I am already in, rather than keeping with the sense that it is *proposed* research rather than something we are definitely going to do. A small amount of email correspondence should have done the trick.
  4. Yay congrats that's awesome!!! And also kinda scary, I wasn't expecting the Canadian universities to start making decisions so soon. Mine still says under review still, but going to be checking it even more frequently now So you said you were an international student, what part of the globe are you from?
  5. Great, which school was it?
  6. I feel exactly the same! Like they will read my email and say 'well if she can't be bothered to wait for us to make a decision, just reject her'. Totally irrational, but the waiting game does crazy things to a person!
  7. Rip it up, say lots of expletives, call my mum, wallow for a couple of days, then move on. This is why I don't want to call anywhere chasing up my application as I doubt I could hold myself together/be gracious on the phone.
  8. I have applied to UCLA, Berkeley, Columbia and Toronto. Only heard from Berkeley which was a no. So I'm hoping that no news = good news?! I'm not sure if any of them would interview me, being on the other side of the world and all. What's driving me crazy is that I keep getting missed calls in the late afternoon from a private number (that's how international numbers come up on my mobile) which could be telesales, but could also be one of my schools calling! GAH!
  9. Ahh thanks that's really helpful to know that a letter only took 6 days! I have applied to 4 - 3 in the US and 1 in Canada. UCLA say on their website that they post out rejections via letter, and as I wasn't called to interview I am assuming a letter is on its way. Still keeping my fingers crossed in case!
  10. I'm also in the UK, so the first thing I do is roll out of bed and check my emails, because I am that much of a loser! I have applied to both east and west coast universities so it's round the clock anxiety. And the worst thing is that a letter could be in the post but won't get to me for ages!
  11. I post my rejections on there, so I will (hopefully!) post my successes on there! For me it's just easier to tell people at once, especially as study in the US means travelling over to the other side of the world. Think my friends would notice when suddenly I stopped turning up to things...
