Everytime there's a (1) in my inbox my heart stops then proceeds to deflate when it turns out to be a Groupon, an invitation to LinkedIN or even worse, solicitations from my undergrad alum mailing list...

anyone care to contribute any interview PEP TALK/advice?

it's kind of blowing my mind that schools send out decisions via snail mail in the year 2k14. that being said, maybe i should check the PO box that i've neglected for the past few wks.

I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question--- but do most MFA progs typically accept a few more than they have spots available, THEN resort to a waitlist if they aren't at capacity?

after getting upset reading the "results" section, i realized today that i need to quit agonizing and hypothesizing about outcomes i have no control over anyway and get back to making the work that has been stalled/neglected since Dec/Jan. planned a short vacation for myself following decision time, in order to celebrate or cheer me up

is anyone else experiencing a near heart-attack whenever a (1) appears in their gmail tab?

I called in exactly two weeks ago and was told that invitations were to be sent out the week of the 10th (was rejected by email the day after I called, har). That being said, since myself and a few others have already received our rejections, perhaps no news is good news?

When was your interview?

just noticed in the results section that someone was invited to interview for MIT ACT. wondering if i should keep my hopes up that interviews are staggered somehow ?

I'm pretty conflicted about the idea of a PB but that's just my opinion. You might consider taking a year or twos worth of time to get a studio space, do a residency or two, show your work as much as possible, and try to reach out and converse with other artists as much as you can. All costwise, a drop in the bucket compared to a year's tuition. That being said, MassArt is a bang for the buck compared to most other PB programs..

Just got an interview for UC Irvine!!! My apologies for polluting this thread with my whining earlier, you were all very nice and supportive.

Second rejection. VCU Painting/printmaking. Found out via email after inquiring about interviews. Trying to fight off the feeling of bleakness even though there are still a few more to go.

to be quite honest this is my first year applying for an MFA prog. and in retrospect i feel like my application could've been put together more strongly. live and learn. trying hardest not to be a whiny baby/alternating between feeling like a moody wreck and telling myself this:

from UMich. other schools I applied to: USC, UCIrvine, MIT, and VCU

I got my first rejection today which feels like total garbage. It's hard to keep my head up and believe that the rest of the apps have a chance at turning out positively.

anyone who has sat on an admissions committee have any idea how long each portfolio is looked at during the first pre-interview round of admissions?
