According to their twitter account, WWS will release decisions tomorrow. Which school are you waiting for? -

I am sorry, that sounds like a nightmare. Just as I was about to email admissions (one hour ago) I received a rejection email as well. The online application has not been updated. I don't quite know what to make of it.... Anyway, happy that this whole process is soon over (the last school I applied to will announce the decisions tomorrow) -

However, someone did just post a rejection (dated March 8). I wonder what that means... -

Yeah, I am not expecting anything else than a rejection. However, I am very eager to get this whole process over with, so that I can start evaluating my options and move on to the next step. -
Will Ph.D. decisions be released this week too?

Is anyone still waiting to hear back from Berkeley? Or has anyone already heard back from the school? Any information would be greatly appreciated. -

Thank you so much, this is very helpful. My best offer so far is tuition + health insurance + a 24.5 K per year stipend, which I should be very happy about then -

Anyone wanting to share their thoughts on Ph.D. funding in general? I have received a couple of admission offers, but am not entirely sure of what constitutes a good financial aid package. Hence, I do not know whether I should try to push for more aid, or whether I should be satisfied with what the various schools have offered. -

I got an unofficial acceptance on 2/11, and received the official acceptance and funding information this morning. -

Hey AL2013, I have only heard from Cornell (yes, by email on 2/11) and Duke (No, 2/11). I am still waiting for Chicago, WWS, GSPP, Ford, MIT, and HKS (which presumably is a rejection given that 2 people have already noted acceptances in the result section). With respect to the Ford School, I think that decisions are released at different times depending on which specialization you have picked. I applied for the Policy/Econ program, and judging from last years results, those decisions come out much later than the Policy/Sociology ones. And even for these different programs, it doesn't look like the school sends out all decisions at the same time. -
Does anyone know how the admissions committee at HKS operate? Do they send out all acceptances / rejections at the same time? A few people have posted acceptances on gradcafe today, so I was wondering: if you have not heard anything yet, should you consider it a rejection?

Duke Sanford School of Public Policy

Ok, so here is the deal ( I spoke with the admissions office): They do conduct interviews, but only when they feel that they need additional information in order to reach a decision. That is, all accepted students are not interviewed. Hope this helps -
Hi all, I was just wondering whether someone knows if Duke conducts interviews for the Ph.D. program in Public Policy? Has anyone been invited to an interview yet? When do they send out invitations? And if you are not asked for an interview, does that mean that you will be rejected? Thank you!

Some decisions have been released. http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=MALD&t=a&pp=25 Apparently these people have not received emails, but solely checked the GAMS. Hence, start refreshing that page!

Difficulties with deciding between M.P.P programs
Arkibarki replied to Arkibarki's topic in Government Affairs Forum
It is difficult to give a brief description of background education and career goals (although it was supposedly done in the personal statements ). Anyway, i figure that this might be what you would like to know: I am graduating this spring with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. In terms of work, i have been heavily involved in economic and public policy issues in the developing world, having had internships in Guatemala (Microfinance and economic development policy), Bolivia and China (diplomacy internship with the British government) during the last two years. In terms of career, i am predominantly interested in a career within diplomacy. Ideally this should be within the developing world so to appeal to my interests in that area. And yes, please do consider Fletcher too, since there might be a small possibility of me being accepted there Thank you for being so helpful! -
Hi, I have currently been accepted to four graduate schools, and am still awaiting responds from MALD. Being an international student, i would appreciate any comments on positives/negatives associated with the various programs, and how you would rank these schools. List of schools i have been accepted to (in no particular order) 1) Cornell Institute of Public Affairs, M.P.A 2) Brown University Taubman Center, M.P.P 3) Georgetown Public Policy Institute, M.P.P 4) John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations, MA in Diplomacy and IR In terms of specialization options, all schools appear to offer alternatives that correspond to my current interests - something that makes the decision more difficult. I have decided to exclude my fellowship awards since i want to hear how these schools compare to each other irrespectively of what financial help they give me (admittedly, this will nonetheless play part in my decision) Grateful for your help! A

But when i contacted the department, they said that the merit based aid would be decided upon during this and next week, and that no additional essay was required.

I received an email of acceptance on the third of March. However, it states that i will be receiving an official admissions letter in the next few days. Which email is it that you guys have received? Further, the letter stated that merit-based aid would be decided upon in the next two weeks, but not that i needed to write a scholarship application essay.... Does this mean that i am not eligible for merit based aid anymore, or is it common for prospective students to be given merit based aid without having written a specific application essay?
