yo_yo and IRLion, thank you guys for sharing. this is my expression too about the SIPA, that I got from this forum. I think SIPA mostly depends on the Columbia name and the advantage of NYC, so does not feel obliged towards the students. SAIS provides more attention and intimacy.

I see that we have some IR experts here and I would like to ask them a question. How do you compare the quality of education in SAIS and SIPA, in terms of giving a strong insight on foreign policy making of the US and also the international policy making processes. I am less interested in the reputation (and as far as I know these two schools have almost equal reputation) but I am more interested in the quality and experience of professors, and the content of the courses. I know most of these can be found from the websites but I would like to hear your opinions.

hey guys, has any of you changed or made up his/her mind on SAIS vs SIPA?

erry, I thought you are already in, what makes you think again. I agree that Columbia might have a more international (and maybe more market oriented?) focus. but I also think a strong insight on the American politics, which SAIS can give you, might be a very good asset. I would like to hear opinions on, which school gives you better insight on international policy making processes.

thank you madrilena, I heard like yesterday 16:00 EST. my concentration is international finance and economic policy. regarding the pre-term issue, as far as I know, graduating from a university where medium of instruction is English is enough to be exempted from TOEFL. this is my case but I still sent my score (what was I thinking?). I will try to remind this to them. and thanks erry. I wanna go to SIPA due to my special case I should go to NYC since my wife is also going to SIPA. I don't think this would help make up your mind

well, if you are not going back to your foreign ministry and prefer an international institution (I remember such a thing, am I right) I think columbia might be good choice, or let's say both schools are great. but if you will go back, I think SAIS is a little bit ahead of SIPA. I believe that SAIS can give you a very good insight on current American foreign policy, which is a very good asset. my case is much more complicated. for the time being I just want them to announce.
