  1. This is so confusing. Thanks. Good luck to you too!
  2. It says 12 on the country summary page.
  3. Do we even know if the information on the website about number of grants available for each country for this year is accurate? Are those numbers just their estimate of how many awards they could potentially offer? I looked at Norway and it says 12 grants, so where did you all get 10 grants from?
  4. This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out for Indonesia. It makes no sense that all the 1.5 to 2 times extra recommended would all be alternates, but at the same time I've been trying to figure out how many people could be alternates. If it is not a set number, then how do they determine it, and why aren't all of the second half of recommended candidates alternates? Of course, I am also already trying to figure out if I should reapply, and if so, what I should do to strengthen my chance of acceptance next time.
  5. Any alternates successful in getting someone to tell you what alternate number you are on the list?
  6. What will this do to the alternates? I hope Fulbright still receives extra funding.
  7. Is the person listed as fairly in the spreadsheet (alternate then accepted to Indonesia) on the boards? Just in case you all haven't figured out by now based on my constantly asking questions, I'm very anxious to hear something. When they take alternates off the list do you all think they always go in numerical order?
  8. Does anyone know when they updated the website last year to reflect how many people applied to each country? I hope they update it for this year soon.
  9. Did someone change things in the spreadsheet? There is someone listed under the name "Accepted" as accepted to Indonesia but there is no information on dates.
  10. I got the "mid-to-late April" answer for Indonesia. I guess we all know by now that the last week of March is not mid-to-late April.
  11. I still don't understand why they won't tell people this information. Is there a serious reason to withhold it?
  12. What is sad is that I've been sitting here trying to learn the language with a book for quite some time now.......
  13. Since they are notifying people earlier, I wonder if they will also know earlier if more funding will be available.
  14. I'm in the same situation. I don't know if I will contact my program manager yet to ask. Do they just expect people to sit around all day for months and let other things pass them by?
  15. I emailed him several weeks ago about something, before I even heard anything about my country and never received a response. Someone else on here also said he or she cannot get in touch with him either.
  16. Is everyone else pretty frustrated now too? Mo, listed under Indonesia in the spreadsheet, whoever you are, could you let everyone else know your status if you are reading the board?
  17. Thanks. I didn't know there was a manual available. Is it online?
  18. Indonesia. Were you the person who was having trouble getting in touch with the program manager? I can't remember if it was you or not who posted a few pages ago that they tried to contact him and could not get a response. If so, did he reply?
  19. Does anyone know where the State Department finds the additional funds that become available in late spring? Will there be less this year because of the budget? Does the money get spread out over all the countries?
  20. I applied at-large and I'm not enrolled in school anymore. Is there another way to find out?
  21. I don't think they give out information on alternates, although I wish they would. I don't see the harm in telling someone who needs to make plans for the summer what number they are on the list. I assume alternates also have to keep the time that the orientation is held in DC open.
  22. Hmmm. Okay, I know I probably shouldn't keep analyzing this, but I'm just really hoping to get off the alternate list so I can go teach English. So, again, with my example, if country X offers 15 grants, that means the maximum recommended number is 30 after the first round, regardless of how many people apply? Even if 100 people applied to country X, only 30 still get recommended? Then, some of those get rejected in the second round and a few remain alternates in case someone declines or more money becomes available?
  23. It works now. Thanks!
  24. roland, Did you ever hear anything from Fulbright today?
