  1. Thank you both for your input and very valuable info! The University is charging just under $1000 for a two bedroom including hydro and hot water so I think we will probably go that route, at least when we first arrive. Willm do you happen to know of any good places to get deals on furniture? Also, do you know of a shuttle or bus of some sort that goes from Buffalo, NY (where we will be flying in to) to Guelph?
  2. I am looking for advice on housing....for myself, husband and son. Should we live in on-campus Family housing or look elsewhere? What is the cost of living like? Any other info would be appreciated!
  3. I was accepted at my top choice school - in Canada - today! YAY! I was offered a TA-ship, which will help, but will be applying for loans to help pay for the rest of tuition, fees, and living expenses. I will be moving with my husband and son. My first question is does anyone have any experience getting FAFSA loans for Canadian schools? Is the application process the same as if I were going to a school in the US? Second...if most of my money will be coming from loans, how do I prove to Canadian immigration that I have enough money to support my family while we are there? Does anyone have any idea of what the timeline is like? To make things more complicated, I am American, but I am currently living in Mexico and my husband is a Mexican citizen. Any advice?
  4. I donĀ“t post much (at all!) but I felt the need to THANK YOU for this one! I was rejected from the one program that I applied to last year and am worried about another rejection this year. Only time will tell.... Anyways, thanks! I needed this post!
  5. Hello everyone, I'm new to all this and am confused about many things! I applied to only one school last year and was rejected. I am going to try applying to more schools this year. My BA is from state U.S university, with a GPA of 3.02, or a B average. It took me a while to figure out what I really wanted to do...I started my college career as a Pre-Med major and did poorly that first year in the sciences and math... but as soon as I transferred to IR/Spanish (what I really love!) I did much better. I am looking at Canadian univiersities for second language education Master's programs. Many of them state that a B+ GPA is the minimum requirement. Am I wasting my money applying to a school if I don't meet the minimum GPA? THANKS!
  6. I'm still waiting to hear from McGill... they certainly do take their time!!!!
