  1. Thanks cacao to cacao and wildviolet. Appreciate the sentiments. Thankfully wasn't crushed, and it's all cuz USC was there to prop me back up lol. It was meant to be, I swear. I got home today after SUSE's rejection, checked my mailbox, and this large envelope from USC regarding my funding came, and it had a letter saying congrats again. It was as if USC was saying to me "it's okay about SUSE, at least we love you very much" lol." <3
  2. Rejected from SUSE... application deferred to their POLS Masters program. Oh well...
  3. financial burden
  4. @Fidelio: congrats on your USC acceptance! I'm going to PM you really quick since it'll deviate from the OP's discussion topic.
  5. Seriously! That's a terrible thing to do. I swear it takes YEARS off of everyone's lives seeing that. ><'' I've heard of people posting acceptances and waitlists on GradCafe too... ehhh people...
  6. I have to say it truly depends on the program. Most honest answer is that an interview means certainly you've made the short list, so congratulations for making it thus far. However, it is no guarantee for an admission. The program that accepted me conducted 3 separate interviews with me. I know of multiple people on GradCafe who have had an equal number of interviews, yet they have been waitlisted or even rejected despite everything. I'd say celebrate what you've accomplished so far, and just be a little wary. All the same, congrats again and good luck.
  7. killing time
  8. Not that I'm applying to this program, but I wanted to give you a little comfort regarding your undergraduate GPA. Most schools tend to value the more recent accomplishments, and if you've excelled in your programs and activities AFTER undergrad, they will weigh those much more heavily. If that is your only weakness, don't worry too much. I had a strong SOP, experience, rec letters, GRE, and a Masters GPA. My 3.0 GPA in undergrad could have put anyone to shame. Yet, I've still been accepted to one of my top doctoral programs with full funding and stipend, so I'm sure they were able to look past the undergrad GPA fortunately. Trust me, I was worried about it too before my acceptance letter. Hope that takes a little weight from your shoulders.
  9. We are neurotic and should go to bed. Look at us in this crazy hour. By the way, is there any way to check our application status online? I only have an "Activity Page", is that probably what we should look at? Or do you think we'll get an e-mail regarding notifications?
  10. On a more silly completely in-denial moment... it depends on the program? Some other PhD programs heard almost 3 days for acceptances after a different Education program... so until there's no news, it's still good news? Yeah, that's sounded really stupid even as I typed this. Lol
  11. Congrats wildviolet for making the short list! Since I haven't heard, I think I'll take this one as a rejection. Bummed out, but oh well. Congrats again!

  14. Congrats!!! I hope you get awesome funding! And gaaaaaah, I know you guys will get into USC. Who else is gonna have coffee/tea with me during Campus Visit? Pout. Waiting game, per usual.
  15. Congrats wayoutwest128 on Michigan!!! That's incredible!
  16. Congrats! I'm so glad to see everyone is starting to get good news lately!
  17. Thanks everyone! The truth of the matter hasn't even completely sunk in yet, I woke up this morning and was soooooo sad, convinced it was all just an epic dream. Phew! Keep your head up high EKJ! It's all just a waiting game. News will come soon enough, I know it
  18. Lol! Clearly this is our duty and only purpose in life.
  19. 8. You can't control your past, but it can't control you either, so you two might as well come to some sort of agreement My personal favorite. Really struggled with this one for a while, but it's a lesson that I'm glad I've learned! Not the nicest one to say, but I'm sure some people can relate: Finding people who truly understand you and your current situation (GradCafe) can be a much better support group than family and friends (who can sometimes say things you don't want to hear, however sympathetic or with good intentions).
  20. flash dance
  21. From my mother yesterday after my first acceptance: "Great! Now we can find you a nice husband!" Thank you mother? As if getting my PhD was really the more socially acceptable cover-up for getting my MRS degree?
  22. I finally heard from USC. Bingo. So happy. The wait is over. Full tuition and awesome stipend. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
  23. LOVE this. The emoticon was priceless.
  24. Ahahaha, I can envision my stakeout on Saturdays, STARING at my mailman as he sorts through his carrier for letters to put in my mailbox. Thankful for a job to prevent me from doing that on weekdays too. For once, I'm a little sad we have no post on Sundays. ><''
  25. Ahahahaha, made my day. Thanks for that.
