  1. @ToxicBear Are you applying for PhD program now and working full time as well? I think it a tough decision and there is no right or wrong going about this. Did you interview yet? Yeah, I know. I am surprised that I got 4 interviews even though I am out of school for so long. Have you made a decision to go PhD route yet?
  2. Yeah, but I applied for a PhD so that I can be trained to get my independent research. Without the grad training, I am limited at my job and cannot applied for grant to do my independent research. I love to do independent research and I think my training will be inspirational. So I guess getting a PhD mean to sacrifice and change my luxurious lifestyle. Thanks
  3. @jayeyesee Yes, they post it on my application page under check my status. It was a rejection. Thanks
  4. @PrescribedBurn : I am in the same situation as you. I have a conflict with my interview too. I cannot decide to go to either ASU MCB or WSU Mole Biosc both on March 2-3 weekend. What should I do. WSU has only this weekend and ASU has Feb 24 but I too have another interview on that weekend. Does other people have interview conflict? If so,how do you resolve it?
  5. Oh to clarify about UC Riverside, I am not admitted yet. But receive an email saying that the Admission Committee has voted to recommend me for admission to the graduate Dean. So does this mean I am 90% in for UC Riverside GGG program?
  6. Got an email about an admission to UC Riverside GGG today. I am surprised because I thought I would be rejected as well. I got rejected from UC Davis BMCDB, UW GS, City of Hope, UMICH PIBS, and UCSF tetrad so far. Now for my real problem. I have an interview weekend conflict. I am invited to three interview UC Riverside on Feb 24-25 weekend, ASU on either Feb 24-25 or March 2-3 ( I chose the March 2-3), and recently Washington State University MolecularBios also on March 2-3. WSU only have this weekend and they are not doing any other interview dates. So I am stuck from choosing between going to ASU or WSU on March 2-3. Remember ASU has Feb 24-25 also but I want to go to UC Riverside on that dates. What should I do? Have people forced to skip one of their interview school because of the date conflict. Ah so stressful, what to do now...any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Got 3 interviews from UNLV Life Sci, ASU MCB, and OHSU Biol. Are these schools considered elite schools? I am wondering if there programs is comparable to the top 20 Schools. I have not heard from the top tier schools that I have applied to and got rejected from UW GS, UC Davis BMCDB, City of Hope, and UMich Pibs.

  10. Thanks for replying. I guess you guy are right because going to interviews does not mean you are automatically accepted. And they have not offered me any acceptance offer or funding package for the year. So maybe it will become more clearer once I know for sure. However, these programs were not my main choice, but are safety schools per se. As I am debating every day on this decision because my current job paid very well. But then again, to earn that PhD mean to sacrifice and it does not come without a price, right? I have a question for ZeChocMoose, you left a well-paid job to enter a PhD program, have you ever regret it or are you currently appeased about your decision? I just want to get anyone opinion to maybe make the right choice. Thank you
  11. Hi all, I have a dilemma, I am applying for grad school for Fall 2012. I am schedule to go to two interview OHSU and ASU. I am having second thoughts about grad schools because I have a full time job and do not want to leave it. I know if I leave it, I will be throwing about 1/2 of my paychecks while in grad schools should I get accepted. I do not know if I will be accepted yet, but have interviews for these two schools so far. What should I do, should I go to interviews and wait to I get accepted to make a decision. How do people in Phd programs survived the financial burden?
  12. Hi all, Just got another rejection by email from City of Hope Bioscience. Any one applied for this program or school? So far I have three rejections UMich Pibs, UW GS, City of Hope. Applied to UC Davis, Stanford, WSU, UW, OHSU, UCLA, University of Arizona, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, University of Arizona, Scripps, UCSF, USC, City of Hope, UMich, UNR, UNLV, ASU, Baylor , University of Houston, and UAB Rejected: UMich, UW, City of Hope so far.
  13. Just got an email from a POI about a potential interview from UNLV BioSci. Has anyone applied for this school or program? Was rejected from University of Michigan PIBS and UW GS programs.
  14. Im sorry UC Berkeley MCB? For the ones that are ongoing, are they waiting to decide for the second or third tier applicant pools?
  15. Hi all, I have applied to most of these Universities. I have one interview from OHSU on Feb1-4, and a potential interview from UC Riverside. However, I have been rejected from University of Washingtion Genome Science and University of Michigan PIBS programs. My question is simply if I have not heard from these Universities above by now which is Jan. 17, then is it safe to assume that I am on their rejection lists? Do they have a second or third batch of interview groups. How late do they have the interview dates?
  16. Just got rejected through email from the University of Washington- Genome Science. Is this program as competitive as Stanford Bioscience, UCSF tetrad, Scripps, USC PibS, UC Berkeley, Vanderbilt, UC Irvine, UC Davis MCB, Baylor School of Medicine, and UCLA Access? If so, then I would assume I will be rejected from these schools because it's already Jan. 17 and I have not heard from them yet. What do you think?
  17. Got my first rejection my email from University of Michigan PIBS program!

  20. Hi all, I am applying to 15 PhD programs in biomedical sciences or biological sciences. Am I overdoing it. Is this too many schools. Of course my GPA is low 2.9 undergrad and 3.4 master GPA. So I think 15 schools will give me a better chance. What do you think?
  21. As I said, I took the Biology test on the 15th and also left out about 30 questions mostly from the experimental section cause I did not have time and it was too long to answer them. I am not a fast test taker, but I hope the experimental section did not screw my score up. Is there others people besides Jtbee that left out the experimental section because they ran out of time. I wished I can take the test again but it will be too late to take it in November isn't it? When will they send out the scores?
  22. Oh and I forgot to tell you that ETS schedule the subject test on Oct 15, which is my birthday. So I had to take it on that day, which kind of ruin my day already.
  23. Yeah, I just got back from taking the GRE biology test. It was my first time taking the test, and I felt that it was too long. 200 questions for less than 3 hours is not enough. I did not complete the whole test and skipped about 30 questions cause I ran out of time. I hope I did well and I cannot wait to get my result. Six week is too long.
  24. hi all, I am also applying to about 8 schools in biomedical sciences too. I have not taken the subject biology test yet but will take it in October. I am a nontraditional applicant, and has been out of school for a while. Good luck to me.
  25. Hi all, Anyone submitted their graduate application for Fall 2012 yet? Please let me know cause I feel I am behind in the application process. Thanks
