  1. ...which i would have figured out if I had looked at the date of your post. DOH! Thanks for being gentle about my oversight Nice score with free lunch!
  2. I've not set up visits yet, but from my years of corporate experience, I believe that you ALWAYS want to get to know the admin/secretary/program coordinator. While this person almost certainly doesn't have any input into your application, he or she can be invaluable in making your visit (and hopefully your time in the program) easier, can steer you towards resources you weren't aware of (e.g. pre-symposium brown bag lunch with grad students and invited speakers), etc. All in all, this is always a great person to have on your side, no matter WHAT the industry!
  3. Brilliant and appreciated advice,jaxzwolf!
  4. Wow! Thanks for sharing this link - already have culled some great resources! This sounded interesting so i googled, but couldn't find anything that sounded like what you mentioned. What i did find was this Interfolio website: http://www.interfolio.com/index.cfm Is this the service you used? Thanks!
  5. Agh, my AW score was also... uninspiring. re: phone scores. I don't remember the timeline, but I do remember that the window between phone score availability (which, of course, are PAID) and the online results was about 1 week. That pissed me off to no end because if you can call and give your credit card number to get your scores, then your test is, in fact, SCORED. I understand that snail mail takes longer, but that they do not make this information available online?! Seriously ETS, can you expose your money grubbing ways just a little bit more blatantly? Anyhow, if you don't want to spend the $ and will wait until the scores are posted online (for free), be advised that they seem to be "unlocked" at midnight EASTERN time zone
  6. Thanks for sharing, IRdreams. You'd best get cracking on finishing up your PoliSci program because WE NEED YOU! I really liked the comparison of total savings in eliminating the program = 3 months in Afghanistan.
  7. Just joined the forum, but had to jump on this post as it is one of my big worries right now! I am looking to graduate work in Biology, but definitely don't feel that I have the breadth of exposure to be able to write any sort of SOP that is meaningful! But my situation is... complicated: - BS in Business (finance & international business), class of 1991 and poop GPA + 12 years of corporate machine (finance and information technology), leading to senior management position -/+ ... leading to "dropping out" and insert more years of interesting life experiences here + 2 1/2 years of (surprisingly) rigorous junior college "core" science classes and 4.0 GPA + Very good general GRE and Bio subject GRE scores and, I know, glowing LORs just waiting to be written - Only 1 summer session quarter of research experience So, I am 43 years old and just want to GET ON WITH IT! I don't like the idea of another 2 years "gone" to pursuing a masters, but maybe that is what I really need to consider? Sorry if this is scattered - I really don't know how to move forward on these questions. Any help or advice appreciated (and perhaps I'll try to pull together a slightly more cogent post of my own, rather than jumping on noodles' tailcoat!) Jenni
