  1. How are Mcgill and University of Toronto viewed in the U.S.? Would I be down-grading myself by applying to any those universities?
  2. Hello, I interested in pursuing my PhD and I wanted to know if it is a good idea for me as an American, who has a b.s. and m.s. from American universities, to pursue one in Canada. I wouldn't mind living in Canada but I would like to return to the United States. Will a Canadian PhD restrict me from research jobs in the U.S.?
  3. Yeah, those books seem to be my best option.
  4. Can anyone give any reviews on the Manhattan GRE prep books?
  5. How are the Manhattan GRE prep books?
  6. Thanks I glanced over the Kaplan GRE advanced math workbook on amazon and the problems didn't seem too bad. They were a lot easier than the NOVA problems. I heard some of the problems in the NOVA GRE math bible are harder than any GRE test problem. Can someone please confirm this?
  7. This book seems very detailed and it looks like very topic addressed in depth. I will probably buy it, thanks.
  8. I did some problems in the very hard sections of the book and I was a bit overwhelmed by them. I answered some correctly but I missed a lot of them. . Are those problems in the very hard section representative of what will be on the GRE?
  9. Hello all, I am currently preparing for my GRE I will be taking in mid-November. I went to the bookstore the other day to buy GRE math prep books and I was disappointed in what I saw. It seems that many of these books only give a brief overview of the topic at hand for only a couple of pages and expect you to solve 20-30 problems, with some of difficult question types that were not addressed at the beginning of the chapter. I experienced this when I read Barron's and the NOVA math bible. Pardon my rant, but I'm the type of person that likes to learn in detail. Luckily, I have some Manhattan GMAT math prep books. These books are very good for the simple fact that there are total of 5 math books devoted to 5 different GMAT math topics such as: number properties, geometry, equations and inequalities, fractions, decimals and percents, and word translations. I'm finding these books very helpful since the GMAT and GRE problem types are essentially similar excluding the data sufficiency in the GMAT as opposed to the GRE's quant comparisons, I would still like to use a GRE math book to study with. Does anyone know of any DETAILED GRE math prep books?
  10. Sorry for all of the new threads lately but I wanted to know if anyone has had experience with the Manhattan GRE prep books? If so, how thorough are they?
  11. I want to know if the calculator on the GRE was helpful for those who have taken the revised exam. I'm working on math GRE problems but I keep making careless errors in my calculations since I am rushing to answer them within a certain allotted time frame.
  12. Thank you SamAli for your informative posts; I will definitely keep your advice in mind.
  13. Thank you dimanche0829 and fullofpink for the advice. Yes, I do plan on studying for 5-6 days a week. I want to get a very high score on this test (90 percentile or higher). If anybody else has any advice, you are all welcome to input.
  14. Hello all, I plan to take the GRE around mid November and I wanted to know if this was an appropriate study plan: study 5-6 days a week for 6 hours from September till mid November?
  15. Basically I got below a 1000 on the GRE exam I took last year. I wanted to know if I do well on the revised GRE test, will admission officers still give me a chance even when they see my crappy old GRE score?
