Fulbright has made me so happy, but this post made me even more emotional than I already am... *okay kbui, don't tear up in this busy Starbucks, people are going to think someone just broke up with you*

Thank you traveler_5563, japanlia, and spanbound15!!! I was on the brink of crying when I heard the news! I am so glad to have you guys support me through this whole journey. I lost hope when I saw the "non-select" stamped in the subject line of my Fulbright email, but now I've JUST received the (P) I've been working 100+ hours for three years!!! I LOVE THIS FORUM!!!!!!!
-
I GOT THE FULBRIGHT TO THAILAND!!! Get this folks--non-select turned principle!!! The impossible has happened!!!
-
I hope so too!!! I did some research, and this Fulbrighter got the SAME email I received today!
-
I recently got an email from my regional director telling me to call him, but I officially got rejected a couple months back for an ETA to Thailand. Did anyone receive the same email?
-
Thanks! I'll definitely keep this in mind for the interview tomorrow.

I'm currently applying for a Program Specialist position that will presumably require quite a bit of commitment (at least a year). However, I got into graduate school and will be attending in Fall of 2015. That leaves me available from June 2014 until September 2015 to work. I got into a really good school so I want them to know that I'm of "quality." Should I tell them this in my interview on Tuesday? If so, how should I word it?

Thank you for the kind words. I'm generally a very positive and resilient person, so I'm sure I'll be able to move on in a very optimistic way. I was just very disappointed at how hard work does not always equal great opportunities. But I genuinely believe that you folks are some of the best people out there, and that you get the grants! Three time is apparently not the charm. I'm actually going to apply again, but this time I'm going to go for the research grant. I think japaniia is right; maybe I'm not meant for the ETA program, and I was destined for something else...

I've applied three times. I'm just going to cry in a corner now.

Non-select.

(P)lease!!!
-
I guess not today.

Why haven't we heard back yet?!

So I'm reading the Fulbright Orientation book from last year in hopes that my preemptive preparation will be forced to fruition this week. #determined

OMG!!! Asia is cominggg!

Please Fulbright Gods! Have mercy on our souls!!!

I'm going to be like this when/if I get an acceptance letter next week:
-
I used to feel this during my fourth year in university where my friends were getting accepted into Johns Hopkins, Mayo Medical School, dentistry school, Oxford, going to London, and I was sitting there waiting for responses for the Fulbright and Boren. Now, I'm actually working and the feeling's very different. I work with five people, and they are pretty settled into their roles with a couple already having Masters (but one of them left because of conflicts), and now I feel like I'm the only only within my immediate group of people I interact with to apply for anything. It took me a while to understand that this feeling of "being left behind" is so, so relative. Lol. But I hope you get it!!! The good mojo from your friends might rub off on you!
-
But who knows what they want?! T_T

I said, "In addition to my classroom duties, I would like to teach music theory and piano. Research has continuously shown that students who receive music training will have better cognitive and language acquisition skills, so as part of an independent community project, I want to hold basic music lessons at the school with my digital piano. Piano and the heptatonic scale are essential precursors for learning Western music, and this unique musical exchange will engage students in a unique facet of American culture outside the classroom."

I haven't heard anything yet still... :\
-
I hope we find out soon! *fingers crossed for Thailand*
-
Wow, you really did your research. Lol, they need to accept you!

I haven't heard back from Fulbright yet, but this is my third time applying. It's... been a journey, and I've been through a lot of heartbreak. I'm genuinely hoping that the Fulbright commission sees my persistence and passion, and that the God(s) are going to grant me this amazing opportunity.
