  1. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMOGMOMG. Lol. What is going onnnnnn?! PLEASE JUST GIVE US THE ACCEPTANCES!
  2. We're going to all hear back soon... Please be a (P)!
  3. Lol, thanks for that Japanila! Though I meant for it to be satire... lol.
  4. So to take my mind off of Fulbright, I'm reading Rhodes Scholar profiles. Now, I feel like I've done nothing with my life besides eat potato chips off the couch, lol. 1. "Interned at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade." I don't even know where Belgrade IS. 2. "Worked with leading law enforcement authorities to use psychological research to achieve less biased trials." I did one semester of research teaching kids how to say "car" in Dutch--it's "auto," by the way. 3. "A pianist and a freshman lightweight rower, he also trained as a competitive figure skater under the coach of the Chinese Olympic team." Well, then. Lol. 4. "President of the Stanford Debate Society, and won 2nd place in the U.S. national debate championships." I once entered an English writing contest and got second place... out of two contestants. 5. "Written one feature length screenplay and three for short films." I went to watch Wicked on discount tickets, once. 6. "Tutor and lecturer in math, physics and biology in summers in Syria and Lebanon." I taught English to a group of Vietnamese nuns one semester in Taiwan. 7. "Worked in Kenya on an irrigation project and is now developing a water project for Tanzania." I once helped my mom water her plants, and it died. Lol.
  5. Yes, I would need to sit down, grab a beverage that may or may not have carbonated alcohol, and then open the email and possibly read it from the bottom up.
  6. OMG. What's worst is I associate "A" with accepted, so I may have a horrible, horrible, crashing of dreams and hopes if I get alternate status. #Lordwhyus?!
  7. I would talk to another Fulbright commissioner and explain to her/him your situation. Negotiation is rarely just a one-on-one person compromise; try to find other stakeholders and talk to them.
  8. Hm, I've actually never thought about the acceptance rates that way.
  9. :/ I hope you get a chance to become alternate-turned-accepted. You've been a great moral and informational contributor on here, and it's not fair that someone like you don't get a chance to reach (one of) her dreams.
  10. And I can't believe Thailand got MORE applicants this year than the past two years for the same amount of grants! I feel very blessed just to be recommended!
  11. So according to the statistics, did someone just apply to Japan randomly and it wasn't even available?
  12. Lol, I truly hope this is the case.
  13. Why did I just find a typo in my Fulbright application?...
  14. How restrictive... I hope it's your top program. I would be weary of going to a school where they aren't prioritizing their students' personal and professional development. I asked my graduate school, and they were very understanding--though a Masters and a PhD are in different arenas in term of academics and styles.
  15. How come?
  16. I agree with NuclearFlea. Just by getting recommended for a country whose acceptance rate hovers around 5% is an amazing feat. Though I do hope you will reapply and become successful next time.
  17. Today I woke up and got 14 emails. I fervently scrolled through the list to look for "Fulbright" and "congratulations," but there were only emails from my student loans. Lol... *sigh*
  18. Thailand's notifications usually come out at the end of March-Early April, so my time is coming...
  19. OMG! Congratulations!!! That's so exciting! I wonder if they'll notify us both ways because I moved from the address where I applied from...
  20. MOTHER MARY MAGDALENE HELP US ALL. *does Catholic cross*
  21. Jesus, I'll give up meat for a week if I get the Fulbright!
  22. Mine isn't that extreme, but I have to start grad school in September but my grant ends October. So I'll have to see about that...
  23. Oh my! That sounds great, actually!
  24. Lord, it's like waiting for the second coming. You know it's happening, but will never know when. And there are plenty of prophecies, but all of them seems false until that one day...
  25. Hm, well it seems like the business day is over and all the acceptances for the week is out. I'm just going to have to prepare myself for tomorrow's email.
