I am dying to know.
-
I'm sorry...
-
Is there no end to this madness?!
-
Tomorrow is the beginning of a new week of acceptances, alternates, and... the word is too horrible to say!

A Fulbright ETA from my school extended her grant for a second year in Korea. Though I'm not sure if she was still considered a Fulbrighter, or the school just kept her for another year. I also remember reading somewhere that extensions/renewal are possible, but not too common. In either case, to have another Fulbright experience, ETAs just have to wait two years before applying for the research grant!

Omg congratulations!!!!!!!!
-
One of my recommenders told me to write it for her.
-
I kind of want to read what my professors wrote in my recommendation letter to Fulbright... just to take my mind off of things.
-
Yeah, she's just joshing around. Lol... but I almost had a heart attach though.
-
I didn't get anything... either AmyPhD--who just made (presumably) her account--is trolling, or I really didn't get anything.
-
OMG. My heart just jumped. I'm scared to look. I don't want to look. I don't want to look...

Please tell us about the response when you hear!

I just keep on thinking about what I would do if I got the Fulbright... During my year teaching, I would start some music classes to teach/help teach the children Western music theory, maybe even buy a piano with donations from the community and teach the students/parents/teachers how to play. I would print out music sheets and help them learn how to read music. Then during the week I would chat with students during English groups. I will have games like Guess Who, Taboo, and Pictionary to play during class. The kids will laugh and be shy, but it's okay. Then during recess I would teach them my childhood playground games like Helicopter, Freeze Tag, and Vietnamese Jump Rope. Then the children would teach me their games, and we'll have a fun 'ol time miscommunicating and someone's going to play something wrong, lol. But it's okay because we'll see each other again the next day, and we'll try again. Sigh... Fulbright...

OMG... I can't believe we still haven't heard back today...
-
Why hasn't it come yet? :\
-
Lol, it's quite glamorous! Though not as well-known as a Fulbright. I haven't interned at a government agency yet, but I'm thinking of either working with USAID in SEA, or working my way towards becoming a Foreign Service Officer.

I can't think about anything else besides Fulbright... it is consuming my life.

So according to my massive and intense calculations of the dates Thailand sent out their notifications... March 23, 2009: Monday, fourth week of March April 16, 2010: Friday, third week of April April 21, 2011: Thursday, third week of April March 27, 2012: Tuesday, fourth week of March April 2, 2013: Tuesday, first week of April ... it looks like I have less of a clue of when it's going to come, except that it may come this week until end of April. T_T This is the equivalent of me trying to do some numerology. #superfail

Yeah, I didn't apply with my alma mater this year. The past two years they have not been very helpful, especially because we've only had two Fulbright winners since the beginning of time. I decided to work with Fulbright alums and current Fulbrighters this time around; it has proved to work so far! *fingers crossed*

I think we'll get our emails from IIE, and they run on Eastern Standard Time.
-
LOL! You are so dramatic I love it.

:/ I'm sorry to hear that. But don't let yourself down. When I was applying for the Fulbright, Boren, and Critical Language Scholarship, I didn't even get into the finals for CLS, and ultimately got rejected from Fulbright, and then received the Boren. I was very disappointed at first for not getting the Fulbright, but then I went on to learn more Mandarin, met amazing people, and gained proficiency in a language I very much enjoyed. Though the rejection stung, it led me to another amazing path. Maybe this is the universe's (or God's) way of telling you that you're meant for a Fulbright (or another path) instead.

Just hopeful. Sigh... Lol.

April 15th!

So nervous!
