  2. both are awarded in euros and both are 750/mo for germany. the daad will offer a rent stipend up to a total of 1000 euro if you can provide lease information and that your rent costs more than 30% of your monthly amount.
  3. vautrin what did they say when you were first rejected then accepted? were you told you would be an alternate or just a flat reject and then an "oh sorry..." kind of deal?
  4. you can apply for a rent subsidy if you have proper documentation of a lease and your rental fee is more than 30% of the monthly stipend. they will give you up to 1000 euros/ month. all that info comes in the packet they mail in april.
  5. has anyone else applied for the graduate study scholarship in fine arts? are they on a different schedule? the website says all announcement dates are late march, but i haven't heard anything either way. additionally, those that were accepted...what specific grant did you apply for?
  6. i believe i have applied for a different version of the grant than both of you. there are several different avenues offered by the daad, unlike the fulbright. the fine arts application has a completely different process and requirements.
  7. you didn't get the fulbright yet, you've only been recommended. ;-) you also cannot hold both the fulbright and daad at the same time. if you win both you will only be able to accept one. we will hear either the last week of march or first week of april. they usually run around the same schedule at the german fulbright commission.
  8. i applied for the graduate study scholarship in fines arts and established affiliation at hgb leipzig. didn't get the fulbright. bummer.
  9. @msafiri apologies, but i wasn't telling you that your experience or opinions are not valuable. they most certainly are, for you are where we all want to be sitting....especially considering your country does not have a committee and fewer grants are offered. you are most likely able to provide an inordinate amount of advice. i was merely suggesting, in what i believed to be a rather comical fashion, that your word choice and tone came off somewhat condescending and diminutive. i understood where you were coming from and probably what you meant to say, but the tone was a teensy bit distasteful. you kind of sounded like an old british woman of society confused as to why the maids would complain about their feet hurting. instead of calling you a dick and telling you to fuck off (in turn being a dick myself) i decided to make a silly joke about it.
  10. hey you guys, i just wanted to let you know that i was given the most amazing cookie. seriously, it is so warm and delicious and full of nuts. i can see that you guys are super hungry. i can't understand why you would be freaking out over a delicious cookie such as this one. i mean, all i did was fill out some silly papers asking for this cookie and then completely forgot about it. i was so surprised when they offered me the gigantic, life-changing cookie. now here i am, sitting with my cookie, staring at all of you guys wondering why you are so hungry for this tasty treat. find something to take your mind off my cookie! love you lots!
  11. she promised me they didn't include the notifications in her e-mail after much goading. ha. we're all in the same boat now.
  12. my advisor just confirmed the e-mail stating they will be sent tomorrow. she won't tell me if i got it or not even though we developed quite a nice rapport and there are only 3 other students from my school applying. i feel like they might not have included it in the e-mail.
  13. last semester started today. the board is on fire tonight. my diversion: season 2 of downton abbey. its brilliantly addicting!
  14. this leads to the obvious next question: what did you put for the plans upon return portion of the application?
  15. i realized today that my fear is not stemming from whether or not i get the grant. that is totally out of my hands. rather, my fear comes from the fact that if i don't get it i have no idea of what to do once i graduate in may. art students don't exactly get jobs right after graduation. the uncertainty is what's killing me. not the fear of rejection.
