agree!!! I found it curious that no one was posting on the forum about it, that ALL the posts on the results page came on the same day (even if all the emails were sent the same day I doubt everyone would post there the same day), and I search twitter/tumblr/etc that day and NO ONE posted there about it either. Also I thought it weird that people's first instinct would be to post on the results page instead of coming to the forum considering additional information has never been asked for before.

With this info in hand, I lean toward punked. The eligibility essay is requested at the submission deadline, not months later, and it seems to be out of character for them to ask for more materials. Add to that the fact that no one posted after that initial grouping of 5 and no one ever came forward in the forums....

Hmm, someone asked NSF on their twitter about the one page supplament:

    Stephen Ferguson ‏@RattleCall Jan 25
@NSFGRFP I've heard reports of applicants asked to provide another 1 pg statement. Any info on what that would be about?

    NSF GRFP ‏@NSFGRFP Feb 14
@RattleCall there is also the 1pg eligibility statement that some applicants submit per the requirements of the #GRFP Program Solicitation

    Stephen Ferguson ‏@RattleCall Feb 14
@NSFGRFP Fair enough, but that wasn't what these were asking for... Just was curious.

    Stephen Ferguson ‏@RattleCall Feb 14
@NSFGRFP Thanks for the responses - may have been a hoax!

Were we all punked?? Or maybe if they actually requested a 1 page statement it was just eligibility requirement information??

Are the grad hours listed on your UG transcript and do they count toward your undergrad degree? If so, they are actually UG hours that happened to be taken at the graduate level. Do not list them separately.

I'm basing this off of 4 years of working in a registrar's office during UG and the Q/A you listed here.

Who knows...probably hasn't moved on to much of anything if she's still raging about it here 2 years after the fact. It's weird and sad. Oh well.

I doubt we will hear tomorrow just because they notify our advisers a day before they notify us, and I think at least one person would have heard from their adviser had they already been notified. My bet is also on this or next Friday... I think Friday because it gives (rejected) people a few days to cool off over the weekend

man this thread is kind of dangerous. i was hoping to just get information about dates and so forth... not the stats of other strong applicants and descriptions of the components of other strong applications, which will inevitably stress everyone out! it seems to me that the applications have already been reviewed and that it doesn't really matter what kind of affiliation you had at this point. i've certainly been guilty of these kinds of contributions myself, but i can't say that they're very constructive at all - knowing -or at least being led to suspect- that person X has an affiliation/recommendation/statement of purpose that trumps person Y's isn't really going to make this wait any easier, and it certainly isn't going to in some way enhance either application.

sorry! i guess it's time for me to use google's stayfocused to block gradcafe for a while!

fosgfp got a reaction from kkari in Undergrad course prereqs - chem/phys?
As a neuroscience applicant, I would definitely recommend having 2 semesters of general chemistry, 2 semesters of organic chemistry, and a general chemistry lab and an organic chemistry lab. I think physics is less important but I would still recommend having at least one semester. There are some post-bacc programs that could give you the opportunity to take these classes. Alternatively, you could apply to grad school in psych, which would probably not require all of the above.
Out of curiosity, what school do you go to? It surprises me that a biology department doesn't require any chemistry; I know in my department we actually have to take more chemistry courses than bio for the bio major.

Thought this might be a helpful thread. When you post your dates, copy and paste the list from the person above you and insert your schools in alphabetically. Bold the schools you added so we know what is new.

    To start:

    Harvard (Neuro): Jan 19-22
Northwestern (Neuro: NUIN): Jan 19-20, Feb 2-3, Feb 23-24
UPenn (Neuro): Jan 20, Feb 10
