It depends a lot on the house as far as how accurate they are. Im an undergrad at UMD and also going here for grad school. I've noticed that its really a grab bag. What was initially my first pick house before visiting turned out to be the last because the pictures made it seem a lot bigger and nicer than it was. But the place I signed a lease with was pretty spot on. It really depends. And at least for my dept, the award amount is listed before taxes. As far as housing goes, avoid anything on Knox Rd. which are very affectionately known as Knox Boxes here. They're typically old, run down, and very very overpriced for what they are. That and theres typically more crime reports from that area of college park than other neighborhoods. If your ok with a house, try looking in College Park Woods, down Rhode Island Avenue, or Berwyn House Rd. etc. Old Town CP can also be hit or miss depending on where you are.

I'm not sure if this is allowed at all (mods, feel free to delete if not), but if anyone is looking for housing around College Park area, shoot me a PM or something! I'm an undergrad going on grad here and found an amazing house, but need one more roommate since its a house lease and we're all too broke to cover an empty room on our grad stipends. It's within walking distance but its in a more residential neighborhood thats filled with more families than college kids. It's exactly a mile walking distance to campus too. I have pics if requested.

So has anyone gotten a rejection letter yet?
-
yeah.... UMich in state tuition is higher than my state's out of state tuition...

Yeah. Both schools operate on a fully funded system for the most part. I know some ppl who still havent heard back from UMD even though they know thyere unofficially in though. the school just takes their time.

Just to clarify, you guys are talking about logging into https://ndseg.asee.org/award right? Or did you do some javascript magic that was mentioned earlier. I cant log in so I'm hoping its the latter or they havent gotten to my field yet.... I don't wanna think about getting rejected fron NDSEG right now.

I heard back officially from UMD around a week or so ago but knew unofficially since the end of march. I heard back from GaTech and was invited to the open house around Feb. I applied to both around the same time, which was mid Jan.

I talked w/ a prof around the 21st who said he'd offer me funding unofficially. It wasnt until a week ago that I go tthe official letter so it took awhile to just go through the Graduate School to get approved and thats for a student they knew they were going to accept. I know my prof said that he personally might send out more offers at the end of the week. UMD doesnt seem to follow that April 15th deadline at all. And Dr. Lee is in Korea until next week so any emails/calls to him will be ignored until then...

I still wanna know why they cant just send something like that in an email to all of the applicants. I never check facebook...

I applied to the PhD Aero program as a US citizen but didnt get in. THey gave me the MSE program as a consolation prize though but didnt mention anything about funding. :/ Unfortunately, if they had any TA or scholarships, they probably would have offered them already so I think were a bit out of luck.
