  1. Same as the above post. Go to the HKS.
  2. I live here in DC and there is a ton of networking here with either the Elliot school or Columbia degree. I am not sure how your family is financially, but I would choose the Elliott school for the full-ride. Plus you don't know how the economy will be down the road. And that is my 2 cents.
  3. I got rejected. So I guess it is Syracuse Maxwell School here I come. I guess I got a clear sign from God. Congrats to everyone with their Graduate School plans.
  4. Well I already have a ton of agricultural background but I want to tie that in with national and international security policies/affairs, whick HKS has.
  5. Thanks for the advice and for the info. Yeah I am thinking I might only be one of a few people (or not many), who applied for the IGA that have an agriculture background, and want to do food security.
  6. Yes I have not been admitted/rejected yet. According to the website, I was suppose to find out last month or earlier this month and April is just around the corner.
  7. I don't have any stats any where for you but this link might help. http://www.hks.harvard.edu/degrees/admi ... s-profiles I do remember reading a few years back, and they said some of the Kennedy students scores were in the 700 range (GMAT overal score). I found it on the Kennedy website back in 2005 I think. Not sure if they took it down. Not sure how to compare it with the GRE scores. There is no min. GPA that you are asking about. If there where, I probably would not have applied.
  8. Did you try giving them a ring or call at least?
  9. Hi jly ! I live here right here in DC. I would go to AU for the masters degree since you have networking here in DC. Plus I would also which one would be cheaper down the road or you would not be too much in debt. Best of luck !
  10. I predict that we will not hear admissions until March 30/31. Sad to say...Yes I know. I think 10 will get accepted, 20 rejections, and a few wait listed. And we or I will not hear until 4:50 p.m. (ET) on March 30. As far as the cinderella teams go, I predict Arizona over Utah by 3 points in a last second shot to prevent overtime.
  11. I think they are pretty disorganized and I have seen a lot of disorganized things in my days. I was out with some Georgetown students last night and forgot to ask them what they though of the GPPI admissions folks. Anyways, I contacted the G-town Admissions office yesterday and they NOW said we are suppose to hear back on Monday, March 23 in who gets in or not. So hopefully that happens...Anyone care to place their bets or wages?!? I just think is crazy how some people have not heard a pep yet and especially with their open houses around the corner. Luckily if I get in, I am not that far from DC in order to attend. But I think it is terrible how I don't hear anything. I sent them various emails and I know they get a ton of them...but I never once got a response execpt for one of them when I did not execpt to get one. The schools that I have been accepted to and other schools that I have not found out yet have been in constant communications with me. Not sure what the deal is with Gtown?
  12. Well I guess it will come when it comes, and I guess they are getting a ton more applications than normal. Just have to wait and see 8)
  13. I applied for the IGA program track as well. The only additional funding that you are mentioning or that I am aware of was the harvard fellowship essay. I did apply for that though by the deadline. As far as the application essays go, I talked about food security (since I worked at USDA for a few years) in relation to national and international security. I believe it is an important area of security that individuals don't really look into. If our overall food area is attacked, we are all screwed.
  14. So who here has not heard from the MPP program at Gtown besides me?!? I am just curious and antsy since I am still waiting to hear back from them as well as KSG.
  15. I am in the same boat and got the MPA funding email. I plan on applying for GA and RA jobs throughout campus. I don't think there are presently that many GA jobs open now but I have a feeling a ton will open up later. You just have to check the student employement website for openings constantly like right now. I can tell you that there are a few openings right now and looking for folks for the 2009-2010 school year. Might as well get an early start. I am doing the same.
  16. So maybe a current KSG or someone who might know how this process works... Once we find out admission/rejection decisions, how much longer until do we find out about our financial package offer (fellowship decisions, etc.)??
  17. But once the emails are sent out this message board will be lite up like the 4th of July.
  18. Cool. I went to Texas A&M for my undergraduate and graduated 5 years ago. My little brother is there now or graduates in a year or 2 I think. But you will love it there along with the campus and surrounding community. As for me I am still deciding on schools and sill playing the waiting game between now and then.

  20. Well, yes maybe I should. But I guess I like to keep myself guessing on schools still. I am waiting to hear back from a few more schools. I think I am kinda leaning towards that program but I plan on visiting the school in early April to make a decision. They are suppose to send funding stuff to everyone no later than April 1.
  21. Hi 040404 ! I actually got accepted to the MPA program and I plan on concentrating on National and International Security Policy. Anyways, I actually have a Maxwell School flier right here (from the mail back when they mailed me stuff about the program), and they have internship agreements across the world!! Also here is a link to their website of global programs that they have: So there area plenty of places to go and intern in the world http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/ir/globalpro ... p-main.asp Even though I have 5 years work experience and counting in DC, I plan on interning abroad and/or doing research on counter-terrorism. FYI - I went to a Maxwell Alumni function last week in DC and I was really impressed with Alumni here in DC and with the networking. Plus I am sure the reputation here in DC is just as good in NYC and across the world. I found out from talking to folks and networking they don't call the "Maxwell Mafia" for nothing. Also, by doing a ton of research on my own over the last few weeks and going to the Almuni event, the Maxwelll School , the Alumni, and its contacts have plenty of opportunities for its students. That is one of the reasons why I am really excited about the program and just about 4 months ago I had no idea about the program. Also, I am not looking forward to the weather too and I am from the South where it barely snows. So it will make two of us. I hope this helps.
  22. TAKE the free ride in this day and age (economy wise) especially if other schools next year dont have money to give. But definitely go visit the campus if you have not done so yet. The money that you would have used for debt can be used for future investments (house, vacaction).
