  1. You can use petersons.com to check a lot of the admissions figures. It's not always exactly indicative, because some of the statistics are an aggregate of multiple degree programs, like the AM, MPP and PhD at Chicago, but it's a great place to check out. After looking at a lot of the top programs, my general impression of admissions difficulty is that it's WWS....HKS...............................................everyone else. There is some variance in the big pack (Sanford is harder, Harris is easier), but I think below the two big dogs it's kind of a wash. Picking schools becomes very much about which subject area and geographic job placement you're interested in, rather than mixing reaches and safety schools for admissions purposes.
  2. My application is complete, but I've not heard anything back either. MBA/MSPPM here, already in on the MBA side so that lowers the stress a lot! The survey page seems to indicate we should hear back the first week of March. Good luck to you!
  3. Lots of the public policy and administration schools have very high acceptance rates coupled with low yields.
  4. Last I recall seeing some general numbers, the MPP acceptance rate was about 25% and the MC/MPA was 50% if that helps.
  5. Recording a killer GRE, acing a few classes with perceived difficulty, and building strong work experience are the best three covers for low UGPA.
  6. I know absolutely nothing about masters programs in ocean engineering. That said, you're coming from IIT with a Q167, so from a purely academic standpoint you should have a great chance at any masters program in engineering.
  7. Oh, you're right! The email is a 16 digit confirmation number that is irrelevant. The registration number is from mygre.ets.org when you 'View Scores Online.' Mine is a 7 digit number with no leading zeroes.
  8. If you have a confirmation email, it's on there. That's the only way I found mine, but my diagnostic isn't available yet. Edit: I guess my diagnostic is available. Q169 (98%): First Section: All correct; Second Section: Missed 1 L5 Geometry V167 (98%): First Section: Missed 1 L3 Text Completion; Second Section: Missed 1 L5 Sentence Equivalence, 2 L4 Text Completion
  9. Sat for the GRE on 11/5: Q169 (98%) from a 750-800 projection No exact concordance reference since I'm over 94%, but would've been 800. V167 (98%) from a 750-800 projection. V167 lines up with a 710 on the concordance table, so I came in lower than the projection here. AWA 4.5 (72%) Like a few other posters, the theoretical 1510 would have matched my SAT score. Applying to MBA/MPP programs at Duke, Michigan, and Carnegie Mellon, so I couldn't be more thrilled that my projections were mostly pretty accurate!
  10. You can apply to MBA programs with no "management" experience, but if you have no "work" experience then you're facing a tremendous uphill battle. Since you're in Missouri, you might want to check out Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. WashU is one of the few schools that embraces applicants straight out of undergrad, and about 15% of the enrolled class are in this pool which is called "Young Leaders." The Young Leaders pool numbers are 3.6 GPA, 722 GMAT. And a little hint with Olin: take the GMAT, and if you score 700+ use it in your application, and if not, use your GRE score. The trouble with Olin, however, is that there's no way to get a single-campus double in public policy. You could do 2 years at Olin, and then a 1-year masters at somewhere like Harris or Maxwell though. If you're in KC, especially if you're at UMKC, send me a PM if you want to chat about the MBA side.
