  1. I have no money (despite having a job) and 25k undergrad debt. This is for an MA in Higher Education Administration. Columbia: at sticker Michigan: at sticker NYU: at sticker but with a modest stipend UCONN: Full ride + stipend GWU: 96% tuition remission Maryland: at sticker but w/ instate tuition Assume I have to take out massive loans. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I went to their orientation days and was unimpressed. Columbia all the way.
  3. I did much worse than the OP and got into Columbia University. LOL a good GRE score is nothing without excellent LORs, a high GPA, and substantive work experience. A banger personal statement couldn't hurt either. Do your best and to heck with all the rest.
  4. I hope I get this. Every little bit helps.
  5. IN for an MA Higher and Postsecondary Education. And that's where I'm going.
  6. How is that a nasty attitude, just cos she wants to me to tell her my personal statement, my gpa and other highly confidential information on a public message board? I have right to say no. People please get a grip. Sorry if I came off bitchy.
  7. Yes, but, how on earth would posting my stats help you get into the program? If I could help you, I would, but at this point it's out of mine, yours and any poster's hands. Yes, it's for the MA in Higher Ed/Postsecondary Education. My interview dates are for the 11th and 12th of March--already making arrangements for this. I wouldn't fret. Perhaps they are working out a wonderful package for you and taking longer than usual.
  8. LOL I'm not posting that kind of information about myself on the internet! I received an email from them early last week. They like me, they really like me!
  9. I heard back last week. I'm IN!!!!
  10. Hey that's impressive. You shouldn't have any trouble getting into those schools!
  11. Do you feel that arts and humanities are fields that anyone can study regardless of financial background? I ask because many liberal arts colleges/programs are having a hard time in an increasingly technological/math/science oriented world. Many feel that the liberal arts is only for the wealthy (who can rest on their laurels and study whatever they choose). Here's a link to a recent NYT article called "Making College Relevant" that addresses this issue. Making College Relevant--NYT
  12. I came upon it by chance, actually. I landed a job at a university and really liked it. After making a list of my career-related and personal priorities, I realized that I wanted to work at a setting like a university. Imagine my surprise when studying university leadership was an actual discipline!
  13. Currently pursuing a masters in higher ed admin. I'd love to do astrophysics and work for NASA but I'm not clever enough. :/
  14. Me: Higher Education Administration Why? I like working in a university. It's as simple as that. Your turn.
  15. Interesting question. I've definitely started eating a lot of sweets since I started applying in November, but no noticeable weight gain.
  16. I heard it's easier than undergrad. There are less tests and you take classes that actually interest you.
  17. Only 10--used to be 12 but I thought that was a bit excessive.
  18. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm applying to a zillion schools to try and avoid this situation. Have u tried a school with rolling admissions? I see you're going into education--what sector? K-12? Higher ed?
  19. Hey, I'll take those scores!! Well done!
  20. Right on! Test me on something that is relevant to what I will actually be doing.
  21. You'll knock it out of the ballpark, I know it!
  22. In many ways, I believe that the GREs are there to deter people from applying to graduate school. Think about it: it costs $150 to take--an exorbitant amount for some people. Many times you have to take it more than once. Also, the prep classes costs thousands of dollars placing some people at an unfair advantage. Do you feel that the GREs should be necessary for graduate admissions? Why or why not?
  23. Maybe you're just brilliant? LOL I'm sure you'll do fine, at least...I hope so.
