Med anthro folks! Congrats! It was a long shot for me but love to hear your details, where else you're looking at, who you wanna work with...... :-)
-
I just want to promote this post - thank for sharing your story and demonstrating that not every graduate applicant is an upper middle class graduate of a top tier research institution. I also did my own time in community college, as well as going to a undergraduate school known for being home to stoners and radicals, have a professional MA (not in anthropology), and am doing pretty well this cycle. OP, you describe very real obstacles, but strive to get help and focus on the near goals, not the far ones? They will be here before you know it!

Yes! YES! GET IT!!!!

yeah..... I mean, I sort of guessed based on the fact there are like zero (okay, there is one ) notices up on the results page and berkeley is a pretty friggin popular program to apply to. whelp. I'm much less worried now that my other apps are doing okay, so, they can take their sweet time. no skin off my nose.

me, post day of interviews........ www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGrpsZ7BsQA whuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.

applause for "noped up outta there" which is definitely entering my everyday vocabulary as of right now. <3

PhD applicants, generally, and UChicago, specifically

There is a separate thread- but I got an acceptance phone call today! -
I forgot the most important part....

Got my first IN in today.... the joint program in Social Work & Anthropology at U. Michigan! yeeeehaw. phone call from the SW dgs. I kept trying to sit down to talk with her and then leaping up, because I got too excited! here's hoping for more good new, for all y'all!
-
I also applied to the joint med program! UCSF as a home base only accepts students every other year (to my knowlege) and this was not one of those years. I noted Cori Hayden, Laurence Cohen, and Seth Holmes. Have you had any contact with anyone at berkeley, however informal--> interview style?

Rejected from Everywhere- and applying again next year

Go you, Daisy! -
What's your particular area or interest, may I ask?
-
From the email I got, seems that they invite all finalists to the campus visit at the end of the month (but if you are out of the country or otherwise can't get to Evanston, maybe this would be different). Sorry to say!
-
Sure- to be fair though, thats just my take on it! Nothings over until its really, uh, over.
-
The email referred to the interview as a "next step" so unfortunately I think its unlikely to get an acceptance w/o an interview. Unless maybe everyone who gets interviewed just stinks! Probably rejections won't go out until after MAPSS decisions are made.
-
Sorry dude! But, as you said, can't get it all. How'd you find out?
-
hi! congrats on the admit! where did you apply? I'm waiting to hear from them re: medical anthropology with UCSF.... had kinda hoped it would be this past week, but I guess notttttt.
-
I will be attending the day, I'm in Chicago already so it's pretty easy for me to make it work. I would think that a Skype interview shouldn't harm your chances, although it might be harder just because you get less face to face time? I'm also antsy to get the schedule/more info! What are you interests and who do you want to work with?
-
Aww, thanks! I freaked out last night since there were interview invites on the boards and I didn't even know they did interviews! Felt desperate up until 10am when I got the email. So, I know it sucks being in the holding zone. Fingers crossed for you!

Oooch. I meant that to show up in the text. Owell. I also got an interview today, at u Chicago comparative human development. Whoop whoop!
