I did my undergrad in Calgary. What do you want to know? I didn't like it much at first, but stayed for the program, but the city is growing on me. Calgary is one of the sunniest cities in North America, and contrary to popular belief, has an interesting young arts scene. Don't try to park down town, although you'll probably get a UPass from the university. There are a lot of jack rabbits and other random animals around. Stampede is my only complaint. This year, I'm planning on being out of town. I live in the Beltline, and people are so loud for the entire week that I don't get any sleep.

Accepted to Manitoba, rejected by mail today by York and OCAD. Now I'm trying to decide if I really want to go this year. "Although I am sure that this decision will come as a disappointment to you, let me assure you that your application received careful attention and review." That could make it even worse...

Just got my first rejection letter, although I'm pretty sure I won't be accepted to at least two schools after a really awful interview. So long, Guelph.

I'm going to do this with my sister-in-law. I can see myself getting even more flustered than necessary if I haven't used it before.

Huzzah! This is my first response and I have a skype interview with OCAD next week! Now to figure out how to use Skype...

I guess? I've read a lot of similar stuff like the Craft Perceptions & Practice series, I think I'm just crafted out for the moment. Also, coming from a craft discipline, sometimes I don't know what else I could be reading.

I had to create a bibliography for one of my applications, but I feel a bit like the stuff I picked wasn't serious enough. I borrowed "The Craft Reader" from a friend, but i haven't looked at it yet, because it's gigantic.

This feeling sucks! I have an exhibition starting next week that still has a lot of work to be done on it, and am not. in. the. mood.

I kind of wish I hadn't seen that, now I'm even more nervous. Gah.

Eek! I see last year someone interviewed for Guelph on the 6th! Haven't heard anything yet... Too much time on my hands, too.

Second school has received my complete application! Eeee two more.

Yep! I've been really nervous about my slides since I showed a friend which ones I put in and she kept making concerned noises. The career counsellor sat with me for an hour and helped me choose the images, and she's also a curator, but I'm nervous now.

Yay, got an email from Guelph that said they got my application and it is complete! At least I don't have to worry about errant missing bits for that one!

A friend told me it was super easy with his school, but I had a hard time finding schools to go to that did fee waivers. Most only did if you had family members who worked there. Couldn't apply outside Canada because my boyfriend wouldn't be able to get a work visa. Plus, not including fees, I had to pay an extra $45 per school for transcripts and shipping, which were kind of unexpected costs. Had to call in a belated Christmas present for some of the shipping fees.

Not everyone can! Four is the widest range I could afford to apply to.

Eek! The post office lady said my stuff would arrive yesterday, and now I'm freaking out that I forgot something all over again, because I know they have it. Need distraction... Also, quick reply hates me, I'm pretty sure.

My career counsellor said most mfa programs don't actually limit you to a medium, even if they have them listed. Seconding the OCAD Interdisciplinary Masters recommendation, but also check out the work that students are making, or find faculty you'd like to work with.

Just getting all my stuff ready to mail and at the last minute I thought, "I'd better check that cd, just to make sure. I'm sure it's fine, but." IT WAS BLANK. I opened the last one that I had sealed as well, since I had checked the first two but not the last two. IT WAS ALSO BLANK. AHHHH! I can't believe I came so close to sending those.
