hi all I applied for only 1 ISE program i.e Uni of Florida (MS) and got admitted. They are giving me partial tuition waiver. My profile Undergrad degree: EE GPA: 3.6/4 GRE: 1420 V:640 Q: 780 2 years work experience with multinational company What do you guys think of Uni of Florida ISE program? Their ISE is at par with Cornell & texas A&M (US news 2012 ranking). I haven't applied in other programs but got good response from Penn state pre-application evaluation. Plus generally there is no scholarship for master students. And in the rankings of top IE schools 80% schools are private with hefty fees. But now i am thinking to apply again for spring 2013 session in top schools like north western, columbia, virgina and penn state. Any advice on this? thanks

And anyone please should i contact professors specially those i have indicated in my application ? And since i dont have a reserch paper and i am applying for direct PHD how should i approach? And based on my profile and the university selection i would really appreciate if anyone can comment on my chances? Am i targeting too high universities based on my profile ? Thanks .....

Major: EE GPA: 3.59/4 Major GPA : 3.65/4 Length of Degree: 4 years International student GRE Scores: Q:780 ( please comment whether this is low score) V:640 A: 3.0 ( it is really low .. i dont know what is wrong with this AW section..plz comment ) Research: 1 year experience in my college lab ( which i initiated myself on autonomous systems) ( no published papers though) Awards/Scholarships: Awarded fellowship that completely funded my undergrad degree national awards in high school Won a very hefty funding for my department from University grant for a start up lab........ Job experience: 2 years as electronics engineer in a multinational working on radio communication test equipment Applying: UIUC UC santa barbara Texas A&M Vtech Uni of Florida Colorado boulder.... Can anyone in this forum can comment on my chances in above universities ? Please thanks

i have exactly the same scores but even worse AW score 3.0 to be exact. I took toefl twice and each time i got 28. I am so shocked about my score. Literally it was one of the huge disappointment for me. And the ridiculous part is that the critique question of the AW section was the same whose arguments i read and even write a night before the test. But still i am applying with these scores because i have talked to many graduate schools and they seemed to be ok with it. Some of them are saying that your poor AW score can be overlooked because of your good verbal, toefl writing and your writing sample.
