Just be honest. They should appreciate that you're not holding a spot until the last minute just to decline. It should be much better for them just move on their waiting list, since it is all part of the game. They know it, and there won't be any hard feelings.

Did you call during the working hours? Alternativelly, you can check the phone number from the department/graduate school on the website and compare with the number...ehehhee

A new thread to share information about the applications for the PhD in Finance (Fall 2012). I understand that the only program in Finance that made a movement so far was HBS (Bus.Ec.). They seemed to have invited 10 people for interviews. Not a word whether they will open a "2nd round" of interviews. Any more news? Anything from other schools so far? Share your thoughts and info...!!!

Why don't you first wait to see where you get into? You'll make a better decision with more information on your hands. Maybe your GF can find a new job next year at the city you are attending your PhD program. Assuming that getting into a PhD is harder than finding a job, you should talk to her and plan together your joint strategy on different scenarios (specially now that you know that you're not going to UT-Austin). This topic is kind old, but I think it is worth to reply for future reference of others interested in Entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is usually a specialization of Management or Strategy, depends on the program/school. At HBS, for example, it is one of the fields of the DBA in Management (http://www.hbs.edu/doctoral/areas-of-study/management/). You need to take a look at each program to find out. I would suggest you take a look on the MBA rankings on Entrepreneurship to narrow the schools you'll look at the PhD program - MBA and PhD are two completely different things, but the MBA in Entrepreneurship will help you to find out what schools are strong at the field. An additional way is to find out who are the top professors in Entrepreneurship studies. Take a look on congresses and papers on the field and try to identify the schools they are from. Good luck.

Armadilla, actually no. My field of interest is Business (Finance). I bumped into this discussion due to the Harvard topic (it's one of the schools I'm most interested in). I'm afraid we get a "little bit" crazy and anxious during the waiting period... lol

Yeah, that's right. I suppose it may differ from school to school (as mentioned by Eigen), including different schools/programs in the same university.

Remmember that, on average, people apply to more than 1 school... some people even apply for more than 10 programs. Hence, there is a natural difference between offers and enrollments.

It doesn't make any sense... They are just starting to look at the applications... The process will probably take (at least) a month to be over... So, probably only mid-Feb they (including other schools) will start to make any movements... Late Feb/Early March would be my educated guess.

Where exactly on the application is the "f" appearing? I didn't find it...
