With your interests, it looks like Penn State would be a great fit for you! Of course, Penn State would be a great fit for pretty much ALL of us Rhet/Comp folks, but you know. Ya never know what they're looking for this year... Good luck! Also, I think it's still early for Penn State. Based on a friend's experience with applying last year, seems like acceptances trickle out throughout the season. I've got zero expectations as far as when I might hear a decision from PSU. Sure hope it's a YES when I do hear something!

Congrats to the future Tar Heels out there! Are any of y'all lucky UNC admits/waitlists specializing in Rhet/Comp? I am, and I haven't yet heard word either way... :/ -
Ernest, are you still waiting to hear any word at all? I'm Rhetoric, too. Wondering if/who my cohort in rhet/comp might include. Good luck!

Seconded. The list from greekdaph just saved me hours of brainstorming.

I'm also ENFP! Sometimes I feel a bit outnumbered (even occasionally misunderstood) by my more introverted colleagues, even though I'm only an E by about 51%. I definitely get my energy from being around people (which I've read is really what is meant by introversion/extroversion). Nevertheless, speaking in front of large groups makes me nervous. I'm still working on the "performative" aspects of teaching; I think I excel one-on-one. And I've always loved meeting new people. Hoping to meet many of you in the future! -
Can I piggyback on dazed's request? I'm rhet/comp, but I'd still like to hear from some lit folks in the dept.

I'm anxious to hear from Maryland and UNC, both of which seem likely over the next few days... The Heels fought hard but lost to Dook last night. I'm hoping to come up with a big fat W from the adcomm. That would no doubt make the Tar Heel loss last night slightly more bearable. -

Holy shit, proflorax! Congratulations! That's a neat program and, I think, a wonderful place to live. Oh, boy, I'm jealous! Have you ever been to the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass? Also, thanks for the narrative. Cute! And omg, I know what you mean about the irrelevant emails! GO AWAY GROUPON GETAWAYS. -

For the record, I have no idea what twilight alicorn is! But if it's as hilarious as my icon, then I'm in full support. (Derp and a My Little Pony?! I knew this was the avatar for me.) -

Congrats! And thanks for saying "I reckon." I say "I reckon" all the time and people look at me like I'm a relic. -
Damequixote: I assume your interests lean toward composition pedagogy? And I second all the stuff muchado said. Also, perhaps talk to faculty in your current program to see if they have a sense of the reputation of grad students in and coming out of that program... do grad students publish (and publish well)? Are they prepared for job talks and the interview process when they go on the market? Are they highly competitive in the department? (Honestly, I think I heard great stuff about grad students at both Michigan and UW Madison when I was researching programs, so it seems like you've got two great options and a difficult decision to make!)

I still have 8 of 9 outstanding applications, so my decision-making process has not even begun. And though I've been nominated by the department for the fellowship, I won't have an official offer from the graduate school for several more weeks. I'd definitely like to know what my options are before I commit anywhere. But it feels great to have such an awesome offer!

My GREs are borderline, my undergrad GPA is mediocre, my MA GPA is baller, I reckon my LORs are good, I've got 3 conference presentations but 0 pubs, my writing sample is an ambitious mess (written last semester, concurrent with the application process), and my SOP is solid but flawed. C'est la vie. I didn't email profs during the app process, but I spent a lot of time researching programs for what I thought would be the right fit for me; we'll see if they agree! -
BOOBSICLES and HOLY DONKEYS omg that's too much. And also, what you just said. HILARIOUS.

I was having Greece dreams during the middle of last semester... I was very happy in those dreams... *sigh*
