  1. Hi, I read your post. I am going to YDS for the MDiv in the fall. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Although it seems that you already have some excellent input. My only suggestion would be to consider denominational differences. It will influence funding. As you probably are already aware Duke and Emory are Methodist. Yale is Episcopalian. Harvard is Unitarian. I was accepted and funded at Duke, Emory and Yale. However, the Methodist institutions offered me less than the Episcopalian one. I think that being an Episcopalian helped me with funding at Yale. In both cases, Duke and Emory offer more funding options for Methodist students. It is more of a challenge finding money at an institution where you do not fit the denomination. It is not impossible. Just a challenge. The other thing worth noting is interviews. I think that they make a difference. But these are my own humble ramblings... good luck to you...
  2. Hi! I am attending Yale Divinity in the fall for the MDiv program. My stats sound like everyone one else. I was a Religious Studies/ English double major with a minor in Dramaturgy at UNC Chapel Hill. Took grad classes, graduated with honors, had language experience, studied abroad twice etc I think my advice would be to interview in person. I interviewed at Yale and Duke with successful results. I did not interview at Harvard... and did not get in. Of course, there could be other reasons for this. However, I think it is worth considering. going to Yale in the fall...
  3. I received a scholarship for 80% of tuition from the school of my dreams. However, I still will need to take out at least 20,000 a year to pay for fees and living expenses... Should I ask for more money or do I just need to eat my ramen and shut up?
  4. I have UNC, my alma mater, going all the way. Espn.com is the place to go.

How wonderful! I hope we are classmates!
  7. Quick question .... has anyone heard anything about money from Duke Divinity? Does anyone know when they do their financial aid offers? I am playing the find the money to go to school game and I sure would like to know if they are going to offer me any money before I pay $100 to "hold my place." I have to send the money in by Tuesday... fun times... Accepted Yale Divinity, Duke Divinity, Emory Divinity Rejected Harvard Divinity
  8. I personally had to think long and hard about this question. I loved my undergrad institution. However, in order to continue in my field, I would have had to commit to a MA and PHd program. Let's be completely honest. I would love to be in Chapel Hill forever and teach there too but there is no chance they would hire me if I did not diversify. I have to leave by beloved home in order to hopefully return someday.

I could not agree with you more. I think there is a distinct difference between being a pastor and a priest. I am in the early stages of the ordination process for priesthood in the Episcopal church... So do you think you will be at Yale this fall? I am thrilled but nervous about the financial aid situation... I am willing to do whatever needs to be done to make it work... but funding would be a plus... I did not get in to Harvard but Yale was my first choice anyway... no need to cry over my second choice.... By the way CONGRATS!!! I still am in a state of shock... I laughed when I read your post... I also scared my family half to death... Accepted: Yale Divinity School, Duke Divinity, Candler ( Emory's Div School) Rejected: Harvard Divinity School
