Did any of you get a notification from the English department regarding the completion of your file? I checked my status online and it looked OK, and I don't want to bother them with a question like that at this busy time...
Congrats, TripWillis! Wow--that must feel good. And I LOVE the Boss, so I'll try and find you in the dive bar (I'm convinced he went to Grad school--Badlands, Atlantic City, Murder Incorporated, etc.)
Ha! I definitely don't live in NYC, but last semester I taught 2 comp sections, TAed for a Renaissance literature course, took comp exams, and three Graduate classes.
On the plus side, I lost 20 pounds.
Thank God for this thread. My heart stopped-- CUNY and Vanderbilt are my top choices, and I got nothing.
I want to work with Mario DiGangi so badly! But-- I suppose there's always next year...in the meantime I'll work at Hooters.
I'd really love to get into Vanderbilt or UT Knoxville; UT Knoxville has a new center for Renaissance studies. I'm also interested in CUNY. Maria DiGangi is one of the few people who've written on my topic of interest.
Really? That's bittersweet for me; I didn't apply to any schools in NC, even though I've been in school here for 6 years now. I'm applying to two schools in TN though so, still relatively close! I'm in Boone now -- where is everyone else?
Late, I know, but has anyone else had problems with the online recommendation system? All of my recommenders are (just now) stating they never received e-mails. Even when I resend them -- nothing. Any thoughts? When I try to call "all representatives are busy."
I thought about applying, but decided against it at the last minute; it wasn't a good fit. However, I did eat lunch with Bradin Cormack at an academic conference and he was very warm, funny, and inviting. He's in Renaissance, but I'm sure he's not the only member of the department that's that way!
