It's hard to know what to do in this situation. The thing is, you kind of do have to be under the assumption that you will receive it and make plans accordingly. On the other hand, it would be foolish not to have a back-up plan. It's just so difficult because they notify you so late! I personally am thankful that German lets the winners know in mid-March. That at least gives me a few months to plan before I fly off to Europe!

PS-whoever typed something about possibly being notified tonight...I wish. I will be compulsively checking my e-mail today anyway.

I honestly think whatever is meant to happen will and, good or bad, just want to know now! Like so many of you I have back-up plans galore... Teaching in Austria is one of them. And that would be fun as well

Just wanted to say I think it's awesome how everyone is so supportive of everyone else. Whether I make it or not I am really rooting for the rest of you. I'm so impressed by all of your research topics! So the 19th, huh? How am I supposed to sleep tonight??? AHHH!

Is there anyway they would notify us tomorrow? LOL

Would also be interested to know what qualifications other students have that are applying for the ETA in Germany. I am currently in grad school studying German, so I obviously can prove a certain level of fluency. I am actually more worried about my lack of teaching experience. It's mostly been through tutoring and babysitting, although I have subbed for college-level German classes a couple of times. What about the rest of you?

@ lkjl2007- I ended up writing my proposal in German and turning in the Lebenslauf in German as well. Hoping that will give me some sort of edge. I'd really love to teach English in Salzburg. What city did you request? Anyone else checking their e-mail incessently today? I sort of hoped they'd send us the results today *blush*. Dare to dream... I won't be able to sleep until I know whether or not I made it to the next round! Good or bad news....it doesn't matter! I'd rather know now. If anyone has any updates please post them here for the rest of us! Thanks!

Another question...is anyone applying for the Austrian Teaching Assistantship as well? How competitive is it? I just sent my application off last week and am already anxious....haha.

Do they always send out the results on a Friday?

Why do they notify you on a Friday? And why do they notify the advisor first? Is it the advisor's responsibility to notify you?

Wait-they notify our advisors before us? I'm confused.

I just wanted to inform everyone that I e-mailed the woman in charge of the German ETA (which I have applied for), and she stated that we should hear from them next week. So that's a good sign, right? Just wishing they had told us today, so we didn't have to sit around this weekend having panic attacks!
