  1. I just wanted to make sure lol... Obviously I am over thinking wondering if it should say under review? My app was complete on February 6th. I feel so left out hearing nothing thus far this week lol...
  2. Well I obviously check my online application status everyday lol, just curious if other's MGH apply yourself application says, " Complete:ready for review."
  3. This is my first year applying to MGH, so nervous...
  4. I also applied to MGH, I think we may start hearing back around 3/1, that's when results were posted last year. But who knows lol, guess we will find out!
  5. My interview at St.Rose was three weeks ago and they told me the I would hear back anywhere from a few days to three weeks. Last week I was interviewed at NYMC and they said we would received decisions in April.
  6. Congrats to all who received acceptances today!! For all those still waiting for good news, I feel your pain! lol...there's always tomorrow and the day after that....haha
  7. That's true lol, but I've already gotten the mail so that killed my hope.
  8. I am very disappointed with no news today.... guess there's always tomorrow
  9. I was literally just saying that to myself haha. The results board became pretty busy the end of last week, so if anything this week should be busier! Lets hope....
  10. I know!! I went back to look at emails from schools I applied to seeing if they gave an estimated decision date and only three out of the seventeen I applied to did (that's even if they stick to those dates).
  11. I was under the impression that you had to pick which campus you wanted to apply to, but I could be wrong lol. It's funny that you mention Brooklyn College- that is where I am currently enrolled for the Grad Cert. in ASD! I love it and the professors are awesome, they really know there stuff! I would definitely go for it if ASD is something you are interested in! I also received my B.A. from Brooklyn College as well. If you have more questions about the program feel free to PM me! Thanks so much! I know I have many more schools to hear from, but it still stings! I just need 1 acceptance....that's all I keep telling myself
  12. Received my second rejection... kinda bummed.
  13. I applied to Adelphi and Hofstra as well. The suspense is definitely eating away at me (especially because yesterday someone posted that they were accepted to Adelphi on the results board..eek). I promise I will let you know if I hear from them lol haha. I also applied to LIU, but the Brooklyn campus. I was very impressed with Adelphi's Garden City campus- did you apply there or the Manhattan program?
  14. It was a quiet day in the NY/NJ area.... Has anyone applied to Kean University or Richard Stockton College in NJ? I'm curious to find out more about Stockton's program...
  15. I really feel very lucky that I was able to experience what I did. It was definitely a lot of observation, but the hands on experience was my absolute favorite! It sounds silly, but I enjoyed the responsibilities they gave me with 1:1 feeds, thickening patient's liquids, and barium/food prep for VES. The first time they let me palpate a swallow was awesome-showing me where to place my hands and I was able to feel a delayed swallow. The little things are what really made it memorable! I really also loved the patients, I got to learn about their lives and that really made it worth while!
  16. I went to open houses last year for Kean, Adelphi,Hofstra,St.John's, and NYMC. I just wanted to find out about their programs and I would be ecstatic to be accepted to any of them! One acceptance thats all I need lol
  17. It was pure luck! lol An SLP my aunt knew clued me in on the program, I was committed to 100 hours because that was hospital policy when accepting volunteers and I was totally fine with that many hours because I loved every minute! I would call local hospitals and inquire about volunteering in the speech department or shadowing an SLP. What schools did you apply to?
  18. I love medical SLP, my dream is to work in a NICU one day. I think we are both in better standing than last year- so stay positive!!! I see you also applied to Adelphi, hopefully we hear back soon! Have you visited any of your prospective schools?
  19. No problem, I figured I'd share my story because I know I am not the only one reapplying! Plenty of people I graduated with last year also did not get accepted- a few chose to reapply, but a lot chose to go a different route. I am so glad I have someone who is in the same boat as me on this forum- so thank you for posting about your experience as well! Thats awesome, 25 hours a week!! I definitely miss the hospital setting, I really loved it. So is it safe to assume you are also interested in the medical aspect of SLP as well??
  20. I love the ASD program I am in! Its grad level speech/education course and my professors really know their stuff! The class is a mix of teachers, speech pathologists, and those of us who just graduated with our B.A.'s in Speech,Education,or Psych. The reason I enrolled was to become familiar with the population in which I will most likely be working with at some point as an SLP. These classes have already proved to be invaluable resources for me as a 1:1. Thank you for your kind words- I definitely feel that perseverance has gotten me through this past year as well as support from family and friends! It is comforting to know that people on this forum know how it feels to wait and be rational one minute and irrational the next! lol Most of friends and family don't get it and think I'm crazy!
  21. Yea, I applied to Hunter, LIU, New York Medical College, and UW-MEDSLP last year. I guess scoring an interview at NYMC this year was definitely a shock to me, but attests to the fact that I didn't give up and how things can turn around in a year! After my last rejection last year, I was like what can I do to stand out?? I sought out an undegrad speech volunteer program at a local hospital where I spent 100 hours shadowing and assisting SLP's- I loved it! I was able to learn more about dysphagia ( my area of interest)- I was able to watch and prep for VES, I also participated in 1:1 and group feeds. After my program ended, I shadowed an SLP in a NYC hospital where I saw LSVT for the first time and loved that! This past November, I started a new job as a 1:1 in a preschool for kids with disabilities and autism and I am currently enrolled in a graduate certificate program in Autism Spectrum Disorders. It has been a long road, but it was worth it- this past year I have learned more about our field outside of a classroom then in one lol....
  22. I really hope so!! This is my second year applying so it's extra nerve wracking! I feel like I can write a book about the application process...lol
  23. I just want to get into a program, if I wind up having choices that would be awesome...but just to hear or read the words "you have been accepted.."- thats my goal lol
  24. Yea because then the irrational thinking comes into play lol....good luck with NYU!!! When will this be over, seriously my stomach needs a break from heart burn!
  25. Just noticed someone was accepted to Adelphi- congrats if you are reading this!! I wonder when I will hear back...anxiously waiting
