I just saw that someone posted a wait list notice on the results survey for Loyola Chicago. Has anyone here heard anything yet? it seems strange that they'd notify wait listers first. It's probably my last hope for an acceptance this year, so I'm very anxious to hear any news anyone has. Thanks!

That seemed really tactless to me, as many applicants (probably including myself) will not be getting any acceptances this year. It feels like they're twisting the knife a little.

I'm 0 for like 9 right now, and it's my second year applying, so really it's like 0 for 19. I can attest that the tension and despair is unimaginable. F-ing Harvard...

Hey, transcendental, it seems like we have incredibly similar interests. I don't know if that bodes well for my acceptance to Fordham, since it means I'm also a good fit for the program, or badly, since they might not want two people studying the same things. Either way, I'm happy whenever a fellow Americanist gets good news! Congrats!

I think one of my favorite adaptations is A Single Man. Colin Firth was so good and it's such a beautiful story. Also, Adaptation, though I'm not sure if that counts. Speaking of up-coming adaptations, I am totally dreading the "action-heavy take" on Paradise Lost with Bradley Cooper that's coming out next year. Yikes.

I think that the worst book I've ever read is What Is To Be Done? by Nicolai Chernyshevsky. I had to read it in a Comp Lit course once and it was brutal. It's so bad that its badness is almost interesting.

I'd like to suggest James Murphy/LCD Soundsystem. He definitely does not do singer/songwriter-type music, but his lyrics are often really beautiful and smart. "All My Friends" and "Someone Great" are great examples of his writing at its best. They're often great for dancing too!

Congrats to those who got in! NYU has a great program. I did my undergrad and my MA there and got to know the dept pretty well. If anyone has questions (other than whether or not they were accepted) I might be able to help.

I applied and I still haven't heard either way. Any idea what that means? The uncertainty is sort of unbearable. I just want to know!
