Thanks for the response! I forgot about Johns Hopkins. University of Utah - The University application fee is $55 for domestic applicants and $65 for foreign applications. Neither can be waived under any circumstances. There is a $30 late handling fee for materials submitted after Admissions deadlines. Please correct me if I am wrong UC-Riverside - The application fee is FREE for applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents that apply prior to January 5, 2012. http://www1.cs.ucr.edu/education/graduate/admissions/ Although this applied to last year's applicants, they should offer the same thing this year.

jjsakurai, Yes I know that the report I linked wasnt exactly specific to MSCS but it gives a good idea of where companies are recruiting and how much their degree is worth. Being that the USNews rankings are based on research, does that diminish an MSCS degree from NYU Poly. Does it still compare favorably with schools ranked higher than Poly in research? Thanks for the help. UclaColumbia - there is a difference but I do not think it is significant enough. The professors are different and some of the specialties are different. Poly still carries the NYU brand name and price tag. They sent me a brochure and I was very impressed by its programs and facilities. So that is why I am considering picking it as one of my safety schools. Does anybody else have further input on this? Thanks for the help everyone.

Hi everyone, I live in NYC so NYU Polytechnic University is well regarded in this city. They have a strong and rigorous computer science program for both undergrad and grad. Why is it ranked so low in comparison to other universities such as NYU, Stony Brook, Buffalo etc. I have seen numerous lists that show earnings potential for NYU Polytech being among the highest in the country (ranked in the top 10 here: http://www.payscale.com/best-colleges/college-graduate-salary-statistics-by-location.asp) I would like to apply for their MS program in CS. Would I be making a mistake by considering NYU Polytech over higher ranked schools? I have no interest in research or PhD so I am mainly concerned if going to Poly would hinder my employment opportunities/earnings potential. What do you guys think? Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the response. I would be applying in the fall of 2012. I did not realize that it was too early to evaluate chances for next year. I thought that someone could give me an idea of where I stand based on previous years. Thank you for the help.

Hello everyone. I am an undergrad student at a not well known private university in New York. I would like to apply to a few top schools for an MS in Computer Science (possibly PhD). University: Private liberal arts university with small CS department Major: Computer Science and Math (Double Major) GPA: 3.89 GPA Major: Computer Science: 4.0 (ranked 1st in department of about 10) GPA Major: Mathematics: 3.91 (ranked 2nd in department of about 20) GRE: Have not taken yet but I should do very well in Quant 760-800 and above average in Verbal Work Experience: Recently finished a 6 month internship at a start up tech company. Currently working there as a Project Manager Research: None LOR: Advisor (PhD, somewhat well known): Strong Department Head (PhD, not well known): Decent Owner of company I work at: Strong SOP: Let's assume that it is slightly above average I have very modest expectation because I am coming from a not well known university with no research experience. Can you guys please evaluate my profile and tell me if I have a chance at getting into an MSCS program at one of these top schools? Furthermore, do I have a shot at getting into a PhD program at one of these schools, or other schools in the top 50? Thank you very much in advance.
