  1. No, I didn't take the GRE just to get rejected from Columbia. I took it and got rejected from a whole bunch of other schools. Yes, money well spent I shall say
  2. Haha, that was me. I'm glad people enjoyed it. I needed to add some humor on the results board.
  3. I am going to assume a rejection from Brown since I haven't heard anything.... bummer
  4. Yes, the Columbia rejection festival has begun. I expected this though and I assume many others have as well.
  5. Let's hope Brown is not done notifying! This does make me less hopeful though
  6. I spy a Brown American Studies PhD acceptance. Can anyone tell us more info? Checked my online app, no decision yet
  7. Oh, very cool and people say that the CSU system is going down the drain
  8. There are fellowships to cover application fees....really? It just seems very odd to me that there are fellowships out there which cover application fees because wouldn't everyone be applying to these? I am not bashing the OP, just very curious.
  9. C'mon Illinois. Just let me know already so I can move on w/ my life.
  10. 99.9% sure that if you haven't heard from Chicago yet, assume it's a rejection. According to the results board, they started notfying "wait listed" individuals yesterday.
  11. Quiet Monday. I predict a not so quiet Tuesday
  12. I study East Asian history as well. I will PM you. Us EA Studies Folk have to stay together!
  13. If I was you, I would take this as a very positive thing. I believe that the admissions committee is worried that you may jump ship if you get a better offer. Basically, they really want you but predict that you will be accepted to a better program. This is an awkward situation for you so make sure you really think this through and word your reply email in a professional and direct manner. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.
  14. a UCSD sighting today. I still haven't heard anything on my side
  15. No way to know but it certainly won't help your chances. 3.3 is low for PhD admissions but having done a MA will almost certainly boost your chances. Other things to keep in mind besides conference presentations, GPA, LORs, and a writing sample: -Research Languages- If you don't hav one, you are probably not going to get in -GRE- Study and do well. A good GRE score will make them forget about your low undergrad GPA hope this helps
  16. Is Illinois notifying individuals in bunches? I see a few acceptances squeak out here and there.
  17. Relatively quiet Friday on the Grad Admissions Frontier. I was expecting U of Chicago to send out decisions today.
  18. It is very odd that Northwestern decided to notify on Super Bowl Sunday. They're not a big sports school so I guess it's understandable in that sense.
  19. Checked mine... says nothing.
  20. A relatively quiet Monday.... any idea when Columbia will break people's hearts?
  21. Yeah, this sucks. First notice of the year for me. I didn't even get an email from them....just one of those redudant log into a billion places and then get a informal "deny" letter. For Northwestern, how many applications do you think they get? around 400? 10-12 acceptances?
  22. I applied to 9 programs and I haven't heard a thing yet. It's both exciting and frightening to see some people out there with a bunch of acceptances and rejections from schools. Here's to hoping next week that we all hear something!
  23. I don't believe this will be a "big" week as far as admissions decisions are concered. A few decisions here and there, much like this past week. The following week...it will be total mayhem.
  24. Duke is a great school! Just don't wear Tar Heel Blue anywhere on that campus. I see a Yale interview up now. Exciting stuff for people that applied to these schools
  25. A Duke acceptance is now up. Decisions seem to be coming early this year.
