Go to that school. Reputation for an MA program isn't very important. PhD is a different story

I got an email from UK a couple weeks ago.

This is for an MA, right? I take it CofC stands for College of Charleston. Have you applied anywhere else? Have you heard back from everywhere? Also, these schools shouldn't be pressuring you so soon. April 15th is the widely accepted deadline for all graduate school decisions for the Fall. Take a deep breath... you have more than 2 weeks!

I think people are forgetting that this thread was someone's drunken, depressed rant about not getting into one of the top PhD programs in the world. It's time to stop analyzing this so much.

Similar things happened to me. I have a bachelor's degree and master's degree from same school and they mixed them up.... mistakes happen and most schools are quick to fix the issues.

Probably that they received a lower # of applicants than expected. Get your materials in ASAP!

I applied to 11 programs total. So far, I have heard back from 3 and been accepted at 3 schools (Kent State, Kentucky, and George Washington). I'm leaning heavily towards going to GW (They gave me full funding for 5 years! They received over 100 applications for just 6 slots!). But if I get accepted to Ohio State with a great funding package, I will have to think about it a little more. DC is just so great for historical research though with the National Archives, Library of Congress, and various other historical institutions nearby. The downside is that DC is crazy expensive.

I heard back from 3 schools so far... all are acceptances! Last year, I applied to 9 programs and was rejected from every single one. Changes can happen, people! Keep up the hope and the drive!

After you get accepted to a school, what is the first thing that you should do if funding was not mentioned in the acceptance letter? Contact your POI? Relax because the funding will most likely be announced later? Contact the DGS? Drink some Tequila?

Now there are 3 Michigan State rejections (via postal service) up! I rushed to my mailbox today but there was nothing. I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

Look at recently defended dissertations with a similar topic (which are listed on the AHA website) and see who their advisors are. Then read the works of these advisors. None of this will be served for you. It takes some research and digging.

Just saw a Michigan State rejection via Snail Mail on the Results board.... it seems fishy. Based on previous years, we should hear from MSU this week.
