I think getting the request means you've moved to the national stage but if you don't get the request - it's highly likely you're not going to get the fellowship but there is still a very slim chance.

I agree with what's been said re: including it in your signature is pretenious. I'm in a social science field and for what it's worth I have a few prestigious fellowships (including NSF) and am at a top 20 university. No one in my department - faculty, post doc, grad students- put any of their fellowships in their email signature. Name Title (e.g. PhD Candidate, Graduate Student) Department University Email It's all about presentation of self and presenting yourself as a professional (grad student) in your field

From last year's thread, it seems as though some people will receive email update requests in a few weeks. Good luck to all! I applied to the NSF DDIG and the Boren Fellowship so I hope I get one of them. I'm just worried that even though I have intermediate language proficiency in my area (or did a few years ago), I plan on having 20 hrs of tutor instruction per week rather than classroom based instruction. If I don't get it, I really feel like this is what killed it bc I think the other parts of my app are compeitive.

Anyone hear back from the Philippines yet? I didn't see it on the spreadsheet...

Any winners from social sciences (particularly sociology) that would be willing to send me tips? I am on the "still being reviewed" list, but would love some guidance for next year, if I don't get it.

Yeah, I think something I read said all rating sheets will be available once everyone has received funding/HM...so it looks like a few more weeks to go. I'll try not to be obsessive - there's still three more weeks in the month!

Hmm...if you call the grfp number, it goes to a voice message stating that they don't have a time frame on HM and additional fellowships. Are there any guesses at all about how many additional fellowships as opposed to HM they'll dole out this year. Have to say I'm sad I didn't get it in the first round, and doubt I'll get it in this next batch

Yeah, I've been trying to and while I've found some hard science examples, I haven't been able to find any for the social sciences (or sociology in particular)...

Is there somewhere online were we can view proposals/statements of previous winners or did you just ask people you knew? I'm going crazy just wanting to know either way...
