  1. Uggggghhhh. Seems like all the Northeast schools I applied to were slow.. but NYU is the slowest! Only one I haven't heard back from, and my 1st choice (provided there is funding). Maybe they mailed out on Friday and we'll find out today!

    Storrs, CT

I too would like to know about Storrs. Are there any good places to hang out? What's there to do around there?
  3. Applying to MA Cinema Studies. Haven't heard a word. The Results search shows some rejections.. and another person asking what is up?? I'm gonna be in NYC this weekend and would be nice to hear something... Does anyone have the scoop?
  4. Don't feel bad. I was an undergrad in this department, and now work at the school and keep in close contact with several professors. I have heard they are excepting about half the usual number of grad students this year due to cost cuts, and the department has a reputation for accepting international students. So if you've been rejected or didn't get invited out for an interview, it's probably got nothing to do with the strength of your application.
  5. Here's some ... positive thinking. My SO and I have been together since 2nd year of undergraduate, and have been long distance since we graduated in '07. He's in Law school and I'm working 6 hours away. I applied to schools in the general region where he eventually wants to work, and to the school he attends now (only those that were good fits). This pretty much guarantees more long distance as none of the schools I applied to are closer than 2 hours from where he eventually wants to work.. but we've already decided that no matter what, we're going to make it work. He may decide to look for a job closer to me, and I may figure out a way to be closer to him once I'm past coursework. I know we're an exception to the rule, but for us, long distance has worked well so far, and we're prepared and committed to keeping our relationship going. I think that if you're really in love with a program, and really in love with your SO, you owe it yourself to at least give the long distance thing a try, you may get to have your cake and eat it too temporarily... You can always dump one of the two later when you figure out which one you're in love with more!
  6. OH MAN Thanks for posting this!! My boyfriend telling me to "Think positive" is irking the heck out of me right now. NO I NEED TO THINK OF PLAN B!!! Aggghhhhhhhhh!!!! Where's my Stolichnaya?
  7. YEP. Went here for undergrad too. Luckily, I'm so sick of this place I didn't really want to get in anyway! Wish I could have that application fee back though! Still, I pass by the building I would have been in every day on my way to work. Not the best feeling in the world!
