  1. This is legit one of my biggest concerns about moving out of RI.
  2. Has anyone contacted Boulder again? I'm wondering if I should, I don't want to seem too pushy. I'm not sure what the "holding pattern" reference means on the results board.
  3. Bummer. My contact person has been Paul Youngquist, and he said they should notify "by the end of the month." It was sometime last week when I e-mailed him, though, so things may have changed.
  4. My boyfriend of a little over a year and I are planning on moving together if I'm accepted to a program. He is not in academia, and his current position in a corporation allows him to transfer quite easily, so there's at least some job stability for him while he figures out what he wants to do in the long-term. He basically just asked me to apply to cities that had a Whole Foods he could transfer to. Obviously, that's a pretty wide range of places, but it did limit me some. I was accepted to Washington State University's MA program last year with a TA-ship, full funding and stipend. I turned it down for various reasons, and was more or less told that I would be given the same offer again should I choose to reapply this year... I didn't, because there is nothing for my boyfriend in Pullman, Washington. It's hard sometimes, especially as I've faced nothing but rejection so far this season, to know that I gave up a fairly sure thing. But I can't imagine living apart from him, we're not long distance people, and I could never forgive myself for dragging him somewhere he would be unhappy and bored. The schools I applied to this year are in locations that I hope will be interesting and fun for both of us. It's hard, though, not to feel like I'm kind of in control of some major life decisions for us right now. Compromise and partnership is very important to me, and I worry that he'll end up feeling like he's just following me, if that makes sense.
  5. Anyone hear anything today? I have to remember that I'm on the East Coast and it's much earlier in Boulder.
  6. I'm officially going insane. Still nothing from Michigan, Maryland or Penn State, but Michigan and Penn State rejections/waitlists have been popping up over the past few days. Maybe I don't exist.
  7. Eek, yes. This is probably my top choice, even including my PhD programs. It's such a perfect location for my boyfriend and I.
  8. Michigan rejections are going up and my inbox remains empty. Michigan, just do it already!!
  9. Officially out at WashU. Cool.
  10. Congrats! If you want to know anything about Providence, feel free to PM me.
  11. Ugh, out of upvotes again. Congrats! I'm still waiting to hear from them.
  12. You're welcome! I hope so too. I'll keep thinking good thoughts for us all.
  13. I did e-mail. All I got was that they will be finished notifying by the end of the month. No details.
  14. I'm pretty sure that the words "mindless" and "worship" are gross exaggerations.
  15. I'm out of upvotes, but this is wonderful. I'm glad I could help! Thinking positive thoughts for all of us.
  16. Hand holding commence! Yes, I'd be happy with ANY news that isn't bad news at this point as well. I'm considering e-mailing Michigan as well. Sigh.
  17. You're welcome! It makes me nervous too, but this period of not knowing anything is stressing me out so much that I figured I'd just go for it.
  18. I just e-mailed Maryland to ask if all of their acceptances have gone out. This is the response I got: "The admissions committee is still deliberating; students will be notified once the decision has been reached."
  19. When I contacted Colorado, I was told decisions would be made by the end of the month, FYI.
  20. Congrats! So it was a personal e-mail, then? Maybe I don't have to completely lose hope just yet.
  21. Anyone want to claim the Rice acceptance on the board?
  22. Right? I'm beginning to rapidly realize the need for a brilliant Plan B...
  23. Wow. I really thought I had prepared myself for not getting those e-mails/phone calls from Michigan and Maryland, but as I sit here a teary mess I'm realizing I apparently did not. Oops.
