  1. Looks like I'm late to the party! Congrats to those whose applications are successful and all the best to those who will be reapplying this coming season! My app was successful, it just barely made the cut actually! Last funded application! Committee 3 :)
  2. Keeping my fingers crossed for you Mrazy, but only because your application will be reviewed by a different committee so we won't be competing against each other It's my second time applying (the first was during the 3rd year of my PhD in 2016-2017). Wishing everyone the best possible outcome!
  3. I'd say a missing word is not a deal breaker in an otherwise polished final draft. The problem of a missing bibliography is more serious, which will hurt your chances but shouldn't disqualify you from the process.
  4. SSHRC just tweeted that results have been mailed. Good luck everyone! https://twitter.com/SSHRC_CRSH/status/836939228403597319
  5. @turkergirl That's exactly right. Folks in Western Canada, the US, and beyond will receive their letters much later than Ontario residents, depending on their location. I'm in Ottawa so I'll post a note when I receive mine
  6. SSHRC just tweeted that the results will be mailed out this month (without specifying a date):
  7. I'm not a Banting applicant but I know of several folks who received the letters from Banting today. Good luck all.
  8. Thanks for posting the link, magicbird! I was on their forum the other days and saw someone' post who contacted SSHRC and received a reply that the results would be sent out late February, which I thought was unusual because it's always been mid-February. But, seeing SSHRC is behind schedule with notifying Banting applicants, it seems likely that we'll be finding out closer to the end of Feb.
  9. Hi socfreak, I already created a thread for SSHRC postdoc fellowships, it just got buried under other threads
  10. That's strange - the checklist for my application (Doctoral) appeared as the last page of the generated PDF document. Have you clicked "Verify" in the application menu? Then download and open it before printing. If that doesn't work, I'd call SSHRC, they're pretty fast at resolving technical issues.
  11. You are correct, Skittish. SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships are only for Canadian citizens and permanent residents! Hope this helps!
  12. Hi all, I am creating a discussion topic for SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship applicants. Today is the deadline to apply, so I thought it would be a good idea to have a place to ask questions, share our experiences, and wait together for the competition results!
  13. I know that at my school, students are eligible to hold the OGS in their 6th year of the Ph.D. and many of them hold it after their SSHRC CGS/Fellowships. But, since the OGS is university (not provincially) administered, this regulation varies by university. I also I disagree that different depts set their own eligibility requirements, but rather it is the university (grad studies) that determines who can hold it and when.
  14. First, congrats on the CGS! I was actually in the same situation as you last year -- I won the CGS going into my third year. I can't speak for Western, but I know that Carleton U will not prohibit its students from holding external awards after they have exhausted their internal funding. I would be willing to bet that Western will not keep you from holding an external award in your senior years of the Ph.D. Besides, the money isn't Western's to keep, it's SSHRC's!
  15. Good point! Do you know if this is also the case for Ph.D. students there? My friend who applied to the Sociology Ph.D. program at Queen's last year was informed that he'd be able to keep his Doctoral SSHRC and all of the internal funding. It could also be that the claw-back is program- and department-specific, though I'm just speculating.
