  1. I went to saic for undergrad, i loved it so much. i also visited calarts not too long ago, facility wise saic is way better.....two lambdas, four epson 3880s, free to use, just bring your own paper! four imacons.one drum scanner...some large format printers as well..i don't remember seeing imacons at calarts. i have seen students making more traditional type of work as well as abstract photography at saic, it encourages you no matter what you wanna do. I am waitlisted at calarts this year, when i was doing the interview, the person said "your work is too pretty.." i didn't even know what that meant...especially i don't consider my work traditional at all. i somehow got the impression that the school has gone too far in the whole "west coast conceptual art scene"....I don't know what kind of funding you are getting, yeah going to saic was expensive, but i am happy that i went there.
  2. Hi I am looking to start my MFA at UCLA this fall, I just got this email saying that the department of art has the priority to let their students to decide if they are interested in campus housing. It's not like a dorm but more of a housing for grad students with families. I saw a few people got accepted here, so I am wondering if anybody might be interested? it's like 1400 for a two bed two bath..sounds like a good deal in that area. My husband will be coming so the rent will be somehow split between three of us. here is the link http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1000967, you can see the pictures, floor plans and such..
  3. I think I asked. For photo I think if you work 20 hours /per week you will get half off or 10 hours to get quartre off. But you don't always have the option to do it, there are many other students in the program so they have to make sure the opportunity goes to them too. I dont know if this applies to other departments though.
  4. I got accepted there last year. I went to see the campus and wasn't impressed. They admitte 30 people a year, so 60 total just in the photo department. They have big names teaching there but they are more like visiting artists who might come for one semester but leave the next...i know they have partial tuition waivers if you work certain amount of hours per semester.
  5. when did you get UCLA's official acceptance? I am still waiting
  6. I agree. They should let you attend. You ready have the official acceptance letter. I think the same thing happened to my school and they had to allow the person attend.
  7. nah, they re-scheduled me for today... and i was scheduled to have the interview at 1:50 pst..........
  8. that is so weird! why am i the only person being re-scheduled?
  9. i had to re-schedule mine i think they are having an internet problem.
