  1. @ djrg.....I guess 24 is not THAT old. But I supervise student workers at my current job, and they consider me old. I guess after hearing people say it over time, you start to believe it. When I was in undergrad, I definitely thought 24 was "up there"....lol. @laebot....thanks for posting that. They probably are doing the same thing with my program. I hope. I actually called again, I think it was a different girl this time. I got the same answer "no decision has been made". And I asked her if they are making decisions in batches, she said "i really don't know". Hmph. :| Is everything that top secret?! I mean daaannnngggg... But at least I didn't get a different answer from earlier today....hopefully this truly means they haven't decided yet. I wonder if they put a "tag" on your application every time you call to check the status....then the admissions committee could find out how much I've called. Maybe that would affect my acceptance, so I better not call again.
  2. I laugh a lot in real life.....seriously . I'm a very hardworking and driven person, but I learned not to take myself so seriously sometimes. Life will go on, even if I do get rejected. I'm a little bit older too (24), so my experience applying this time is a bit different. And I already have a good job (but its just not in the career field I want to be in....lol). But in these times, any job is good. I work in medicine, but I want to do music business. I have NO CLUE how I got here....but I'm not complaining. 8) I AM ready for them to make a decision on my application. But its nothing I can do about it now.
  3. Thanks for replying. Yeah, so pretty much I can't really pull anything from her statement. I would think she would have told me "you'll be receiving something soon" if I didn't get in. I would hope she wouldn't let me hold on to that little bit of hope, if there is absolutely no chance of me getting in....lmao. But maybe that's just me being optimistic.... . I can wait longer....just as long as I know its not a definite "no". I may call again, hopefully I'll get someone else. If that person says "a decision has been mailed, etc"...then I'll know FOR SURE that I didn't get it.
  4. Thanks for those words of encouragement.....its really appreciated. 8) To the above poster....at least your on a waitlist....I haven't heard anything, at all.
  5. You call a university and they say: "I'm sorry, they haven't made a decision on your application" ....yet you know they have made decisions for others. I did this just recently. The admissions counselor asked for my social sec #, and looked up my application status. I can't tell if she's lying, or telling the truth. She definitely looked up something, because I didn't give her my name....and she called me by my first name, before I hung up. I wonder if they let the obvious "yes" students know they got in first, and they have a "maybe" pile that takes longer to sort through....lol. UGH...

  7. Oh ok, cool....well congrats! I'm not sure what the means for me.... . I applied around the same time. I turned in a hard-copy application (overnighted it, a few days b/f the deadline). So either way....I'll be hearing something soon. IF, I DIDN'T get in....I honestly don't know what they are looking for. My GPA was on the lower side (by NYU standards), but not horrible (3.5). But that's mainly b/c of some personal family issues I was going through at the time....and I also worked a part-time job, and volunteered. And I had some professional music business work experience after undergrad. I DIDN'T submit GRE scores though, b/c I'm not a great standardized test taker AT ALL. So, I'm not going to think negatively (at least not yet). My application wasn't horrible by any means. But hey, you never know what's "good enough" when it comes these admission committees....
  8. You did regular decision?
  9. I've never heard of anyone getting a financial aid award, and then not getting in. I could be wrong though. anyone else on this forum know if that has happened before? i will tell you one thing. calling the school to ask them about it, will NOT help. I did the same thing....and the director of grad admissions told me it was no indication that I got it. Yeah right! I don't think they would waste time figuring up your financial aid award info, if they didn't want you there. somebody screwed up the system, the financial aid letters went out too early. same probably happened with you. i hope it works out for you. 8)
  10. Ok thanks....I hope that's it.
  11. This is GREAT news. Same thing happened to me, when I applied to Columbia College Chicago (back in '06). They sent the financial aid award letter to me, BEFORE I got the acceptance letter. And I DID get in. I declined though...lol. But yes, this is usually good news.
  12. ^^Hmmm...that's interesting. It didn't work for me though. You used your social security number, right? (since we wouldn't have a NYU ID Number) I applied for Masters in Music Business (Regular Decision)....which was Feb 1st deadline. Surely they would have made a decision by now. I'm just gonna ignore that I can't log in to the website....LMAO, and hope that's not a sign. This is ridiculous.
