Waterloo hasn't offered me anything except their congratulations They don't feel the need to provide the President's Grad Scholarship to Vanier winners as incentive to stay at Waterloo because they know you can't take your Vanier anywhere else. Maybe some departments offer tuition credits, etc. but that certainly isn't the case in Biology. Not that I'm complaining - $50 grand (tax free!) is good enough for me, even if I have to pay tuition out of it

Hi all, Does anyone know what the phrase "strict confidence until formal public announcement" really means? It says this on my letter - obviously I told my mom and close friends and supervisor right away, but now my department wants to make an announcement and I'm not sure if that's actually okay. I have no idea when this "formal public announcement" actually happens, but I'm pretty sure the results aren't much of a secret considering I have now received a letter from my graduate studies office as well. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

Hi all, I've been reading all of your posts for days - thanks so much for everyone who shared valuable information. Just found out that I got an NSERC vanier! FYI, my score was 7.58 out of 9 and i was ranked 21st overall. Best of luck to everyone else - for those of you who don't get it, there's still lots of CGSs out there to be won
