  1. Upstate-ish. I see some other folklore acceptances on the results page. Come talk to me, soon-to-be-classmates! Let's discuss our weird focuses! I don't want to wait until September to know who I am going to be hanging out with for a couple years!
  2. Hello! I was accepted into Folklore for the fall. I will be doing the big move across the country closer to the starting date. So scared of how far away it is but exciting too.
  3. Rejected from UO's art program. Plan to amaze them in the fall with my plans for my folklore program. Keep a watchful eye for Sasquatch sightings on the Eugene campus in a few months.
  4. Thanks. I was processing some awful personal stuff last week when I posted that. I have hope for the future now instead of just bleak despair. <3
  5. Accepted to UO's Folklore program. No messages back from UO's art program
  6. Someone on the results page listed they were emailed on the 4th, the day reviews were. Judging from the lack of email responses, I am assuming I was rejected at this point.
  7. Often its hundreds of applications for 10 or so spots. Just in a numbers game, rejection is the most likely outcome. You're in good company
  8. Dreamed I was accepted to everything I applied to and that it was spring last night. It's 4 degrees today and still waiting on answers.
  9. Got back from my trip to Oregon, remember my message earlier that was about my status not being part of the going to be considered for admission thing? It gets a lot worse than just disappointing news. I have no idea if I am going to be considered for admission during tomorrow's applicant reviews from the admission committee. Somehow my phone interview was never noticed and while I was told all the information about the in person activities from last week during my interview, I was not actually invited to it. I should have been invited, by virtue of having a phone interview and being told about the event but somehow that was never done and my interview went is unverifiable. So if the prof that interviewed me says she spoke with me last month at 12:30 on the 17th, then I may actually get reviewed tomorrow. This experience was quite literally a nightmare scenario for any admissions process.
  10. I had sent a follow up message since I'm going to be in state for a week. Im not in the pile of people to be offered acceptances but not sure if rejected or waitlisted. Most likely bad news though. Still no word yet from the other department I applied to so, there is hope but its a pretty weak hope for me this year. So putting all eggs in one basket plan is super bad. Lesson learned.
  11. Not on the list for top candidates. Great to know just before spending a lot of money to travel and miss work.
  12. I only applied to UO so it's good I haven't secretly been rejected yet then. Constant fear of that. I haven't heard from the other department I applied to but it seems no one else on here has either. So tempted to call but...pretty scared to hear bad news.
  13. It cannot be next Monday fast enough. Is there anyone from here going to the UO grad review day thing next week? If anyone else is, there is also a folklore lecture the day before on the Malawi people. Come see neat lecture! I took the entire week off from work to spend time out west. I hear there are areas of the world that aren't covered in snow. I don't believe that can be true. Next Sunday's forecast is another 12 inches for my area of NY, day before my flight out. New England doesn't want me to escape.
  14. Going to be visiting the campus during my other department's decisions are sent out, at least according to the search results from prior years. Maybe they will take pity on me traveling so far and not reject me while I am out there. Needless anxieties, I am just going to go back to refreshing my email every 10 minutes.
  15. Hipmunk and tripadvisor are where I've been looking for flights. Its best to go to Portland and take the bus down for cost now/cost on the trip budgeting. Bus down there is 26ish dollars. From Newark to Portland it's 260 round trip leaving on a Monday returning Saturday. The biggest concern is the hostel is usually booked solid in Eugene :|
  16. I'm not unemployed! Yay! It wasn't as exciting in the aftermath as it is during the fire. "The flames then spread to the exterior of the main building, specifically a rear overhang, but apparently did not burn anything inside." But this gave me time, working from home, to plan out a cheaper way for flights. It is much cheaper to fly into Portland and take a bus down to Eugene than to fly directly to Eugene. By half. I wish I knew if I was accepted before I plunked down more money traveling.
  17. I was going to buy my plane ticket and reserve my B&B for my trip out to UO in February tomorrow, got the time off from work and arranged it with my partner so he can come on the trip out there for a mini-vacation for him...And I get up this morning to my work being on fire. Not salaried so this forced time off is going to make an across the country trip not really economical. At least I wasn't already rejected? Trying to stay positive!
  18. Sent an email to my other POI in the other department I applied to, hopefully it isn't too forward to be like 'hey Ill be in the area next month and will see your lecture!' I haven't heard anything from them at all yet so it would be awkward if I was already rejected. Anxiety and panic, constantly refreshing my email - Yeap its waiting season!
  19. Nah you still got loads of time before you have to worry. Last year I was asked for interview first week of Feb, so 2-ish weeks from now. Depending on the department, no idea how the other ones go. My focus is Photo for art. The other program is an entirely different area, no word from them yet so I of course expect the worst despite all proof against it. For the art departments, the first interview sections happen independently in each area. Photo people review photo portfolios, fibers people review fibers portfolios and so on. Then they get together in a giant portfolio cage match and fight for their picks for their department to get accepted. Actual acceptance/rejections/waitlists happened around early March.
  20. I tend to think the worst of all things. You made me feel a million percent better. I was asked to bring a small demo of how I print in for their grad review event thingie next month. I brought a book of it my last trip out so I already know what to show. Even if they don't read they at least are interested so that is a plus.
  21. Maybe there is an in-between setting for different views? Some software I use at work has various people accessing it with different levels of what they can see and do. This just adds to the mystery that is admissions.
  22. If that was the case then how come less than a week after I submitted my application and got an interview, my POI didn't have anything but the images themselves? Following that logic, no desc/titles in first review to get rid of unwanted portfolios, why did I get an interview at all? Now, I'm not any member of an admission committee or anything but it seems more like they didn't have all the information available instead of didn't want to have all of it. For example, one of my pieces was a video and the description wrote it was a projection in a planetarium. She was super surprised by that and said how it made so much more sense. (Space related video would be best shown in space related way.) I don't think they get the info that we provide.
  23. Loric, much like klp suggests: Let it go. All your materials are handed in and its submitted. The best you can do is not worry about it. It will either happen or not. Don't give up or anything but there isn't much else you can do now. Relax and wait.
  24. ^^^ To change your little info at the bottom of posts its just the 'signature' info for your profile. You can change it at the top of the page by changing your settings. How accurate is the Peterson's acceptance rate info? It feels right for the stats I know for UO's art department but if the Folklore department stats are right I feel a whole lot better about this coming Fall
  25. So that's why my POI described pieces of my portfolio instead of just saying the name of it. Ugh. That is awful if they don't just get it all.
