Is anybody waiting to hear from NYC univs? Weill Cornell (BCMB), NYU sackler, Einstein and mount Sinai? Is it just me waiting for them or have they gone silent?

Its got nothing to do with industry. Just research interests. As a matter if fact, I know two post docs who did tissue engineering n were it hard to find jobs (both american citizen). I myself found it hard to find jobs (international, post-masters) in biomaterials n tissue eng. Now, I can't say about 5 yrs from now, but from what I gather from post docs the majority of jobs are in instrumentation and lithography based (micropatterning, microfluidics)... This is just based on people I have interacted with. I DoNt have any idea about computational. Take it with a grain of salt. -
Oh thanks . I'm international. My colleague didn't know if she used to get a holiday during her grad school.
-
Are schools working today? (NYC?), I have a holiday here in Houston.
-
I'm international as well. I wore a button down shirt & formal pants without a tie. It was very cold so I also wore a sweater. I got into the program. However there were many with suits.

I agree with Opto. Dont reject the second prof i would feel bad for him. do a skype with him too. Usually the prof would do multiple skypes/interviews with other students as well, even if he/she may find you more appealing. Later down the lane, you can always say no professionally or you may change your mind. Usually you are expected to interview several professors before you make a decision. Some programs even encourage 3 lab rotations before choosing a PI for PhD thesis. Congrats again for your interviews @ University XXX . Congrats everyone for stanford, MIT interviews. I saw that someone got GaTech and UMich interviews too... guess its starting. -

High. Sorry to hear about your rejection. So I'm either at the bottom pile of waitlist or ''to be sent out for rejection-but couldn't get to it yet'' list

Got a phone call from the graduate chair of biomedical sciences at Penn state (hershey). My first official funded acceptance and made my day. It is a great place. The battle of Biomed science Vs Engineering is still going on inside me.. ... will make a decision in april. -
Call from Penn state hershey . Loved that place... ! MY first official acceptance with funding.

good luck too .... im refreshing thrice a day (lucky for me I'm working a lot)... Im of the opinion im not going to any other univ anymore ... (although i wish and hope otherwise) Great profile!!! Looking at you guys being contacted by profs at Upenn, I wonder if im on waiting list or "to be sent for rejection" list. The only confidence I have now is that Its only january. mid-Feb will be hell if I would not have heard from anyone. -
Looking at a lot of interview invites, If I didnot get weill Cornell - BCMB (allied program - mentioned developmental biology) or NYU-Sackler Developmental genetics invite so far, does it mean its almost a rejection?
